Knowledge or experience with environmental and durability testing and related accelerated test methodologies especially in electrical or electromechanical devices is required

Support the project manager by assigning and prioritizing responsibilities for engineering tasks associated with scope as required.

Support the development of Engineering plans to meet program requirements.

5+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering or Systems Engineering experience

Strong analytical skills with emphasis on using and/or directing finite element analysis (FEA)

Experience with thermal analysis of mechanical and electronic systems, in space, air or ground environments

Experience designing highly efficient heat exchangers for high temperature applications

Experience in thermal analysis and thermally-constrained design; computational thermal design experience (finite methods) is not required but highly preferred

BS/MS/PHD in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering

Prior experience in aerospace is not required

Hands-on fabrication experience using common power tools for projects at work/home/school

Hands-on experience with metalworking, welding, hydraulics, manufacturing, etc.

Working knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, and instrumentation

Experience safely operating complex fluid systems, including high pressure gas, cryogenic fluids, flammables, and hydraulics

Experience in developing numerical models and experimental characterization of thermal/fluid systems and heat exchangers

Testing – instrumentation, data acquisition, and processing of vehicle HVAC, coolant, refrigerant and other thermal systems

Analysis –thermal model development for hardware optimization, controls, and diagnostics

Success in this role will help us drive forward vehicle efficiency, performance, supercharge capability, occupant comfort, and NVH

Experience in basic shop and fabrication skills.

Skills and experience should demonstrate:

Maintain training on-site and off-site and kept up to date within contract compliance requirements.

Self-learning; curios and will reasonably come up to speed on areas outside of experience base.

Mechanical design skills with consideration to dimensional tolerancing, fits, manufacturing methods.

CAD skills in part and assembly designs, animations, exploded part representation, bill of materials, tolerancing analysis, interference analysis.

Experience designing/testing/characterizing refrigeration components and systems

Experience with developing refrigeration component and system numerical models

Knowledge of automotive thermal and HVAC systems including compressors, HVAC assembly, heat exchangers, fluid transfer components, refrigerant types, etc

Experience with scripting language like Python to query and analyze data

Ø Should have experience in Electronics cooling and packaging.

Ø Should have 1 – 10 years of experience in Solidworks and Flotherm XT

Knowledge of spacecraft propulsion systems and/or vacuum hardware requirements.

Manage system level design, analysis and trade studies of the electric propulsion systems

4+ years of relevant experience; a Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of experience.

Experience with 3D modeling and creating manufacturing drawings.

Experience with Python, MATLAB, C/C++.

Professional experience with Siemens NX (Unigraphics), ANSYS, or COMSOL.

5+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering or Systems Engineering experience

Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.

A minimum of 5 years of relevant heat transfer and/or thermal design experience.

Prior experience in the fundamentals of heat transfer and compressible flows.

Experience with fluid flow & heat transfer analytical software.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to manage projects with limited guidance.

Highly dependable, strong work ethic, with excellent time management skills.

Experience with life safety design/requirements

Support the development and validation of the system's technical requirements and deliverables in support of overall program requirements.

Translate higher level requirements into lower level functional requirements and design options. Conduct trade studies/assessments to determine the optimal design solutions.

Identify and document customer objectives and product requirements.

Experience with design, analysis, integration and/or development/verification testing is a plus.

Integration experience at the vehicle or stage level to include technical and systems engineering activities is a plus.

Provide system engineering, analytical integration, technical and program support to the NTP project.

Participate in relevant trade teams. Identify and pursue resolution of issues.
