Nuclear Facility Safety Engineer Jobs

Experience in the application of DOE rules, guides, orders, standards, and handbooks including 10CFR 830, Nuclear Safety Management, is required.

Perform analysis of equipment, processes, and procedures prescribing correct methods, control requirements, and limitations.

BA / BS Degree and a minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or

MA / MS Degree with a minimum 1 year of experience

Work with inter-faculty transfer management; SAR-413, LST-337

Work with receiver for packaging requirements

Containers types include contact handled and remote handled

Assist end users with proper application and operation of containers such as thermal loading and other payload requirement verification

Collaborate with nuclear safety on container requirements; TSRs, safety significance, container lists (LST-737, etc.), assign damage ratios for material at risk

Establish packaging requirements for receipt to MFC facilities

4-6 years of engineering experience

Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience

Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer

Experience with safety analysis codes, (e.g. RETRAN, VIPRE, RELAP, and GOTHIC, and/or equivalents)

Experience with Radiological Engineering analysis codes, (e.g. RADTRAD, SCALE, MCNP, and LOCADOSE)

Experience with nuclear fuel and PWR safety analyses design analyses

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position:

Support safe, reliable operation by identifying and effectively resolving safety analysis issues via the corrective action and work management processes.

Good to excellent communication skills and experience/proficiency in PC use and applications, depending on the Engineering level.

Engineer I: 0-2 years of experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level

Engineer II: 2+ years of experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level

Engineer III: 4+ years of experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level

Manage additional facilities initiatives such as evaluation of new technology, cost reduction, industry comparisons or evaluation of strategic business development opportunities.

Experience in the maintaining and sustaining of facility support systems

5 + years of experience in the field

Skills with ACAD and Visio, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Access, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Explorer)

Basic knowledge of facility systems, e.g., mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic.

Evaluate contractor performances to ensure quality operations and investigate all accidents/incidents that may occur and prepare relevant reports.

Perform all work under a quality assurance program that conforms to nuclear regulatory requirements.

Experience with programming in any of the following: C#, C++, Python, VisualBasic, or MATLAB.

Working knowledge of 10 CFR Part 70 is a plus.

Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Performs NCS analyses to define the safety basis for SNM operations.

Advises production personnel on the impact of process changes and facility modifications.

Executes computer models to evaluate normal operations and process upsets with regards to NRC License limits.

Determines limits and controls to maintain operations critically safe.

Interfaces with internal and external physical security experts to ensure compliance with U.S. Army nuclear facility requirements.

Knowledge and understanding of how power production assets are deployed and utilized by the U.S.
