JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Safety Analysis is responsible for the engineering activities related to the plant safety analyses as described in Chapters 4, 6, and 15 of the site’s Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR). Design integrity of the site’s safety analyses is maintained through effective configuration control of design output documents (i.e., vendor analyses, specifications, calculations, drawings, test requirements, and procedures).

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support safe, reliable operation by identifying and effectively resolving safety analysis issues via the corrective action and work management processes.
  • Support and coordinate with core and fuel design engineers, site design engineers, and others as necessary to support the Reload process and/or to resolve safety analysis issues.
  • Provide technical support to licensing, operations, maintenance, engineering, and other site organizations that are related to or impacted by the safety analysis design basis.
  • Develop safety analysis engineering products in accordance with defined standards and procedures.
  • Review plant design modifications for safety analysis impact.
  • Maintain the site’s safety analysis design and licensing basis.
  • Attend training and maintain the qualifications necessary to perform the required group functions. Act as a design authority for the site in areas associated with the site safety analyses.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education required for the position:
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or another closely related scientific discipline/ physical science generally associated with power plant operations, or equivalent work experience (equivalent experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Engineer / Technical Specialist level.)
  • Desired: B.S. Degree in (1) Nuclear Engineering or (2) Mechanical Engineering

Minimum experience required of the position:
  • Engineer Sr: 6+ years of experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
  • Engineer I: 0-2 years of experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
  • Engineer III: 4+ years of experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
  • Highly Desired: EXPERIENCE IN DOSE, FLUID OR THERMAL HYDRAULIC ANALYSIS.
  • Desired: 3+ years’ experience in Reactor Engineering, Safety Analysis, or Fuel Engineering
    • Highly Desired: EXPERIENCE IN DOSE, FLUID OR THERMAL HYDRAULIC ANALYSIS.

  • Engineer II: 2+ years of experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position:
  • Experience in the site or corporate Licensing, Engineering or Fuels organizations.
  • Good to excellent communication skills and experience/proficiency in PC use and applications, depending on the Engineering level.
  • Highly Desired: EXPERIENCE IN DOSE, FLUID OR THERMAL HYDRAULIC ANALYSIS.
  • Desired: Proficiency in computer codes RELAP, GOTHIC, and RADTRAD
    • Highly Desired: EXPERIENCE IN DOSE, FLUID OR THERMAL HYDRAULIC ANALYSIS.
