Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern Jobs

CAD experience is required (SolidWorks preferred)

Provide engineering support to the product design team and other company departments including customer service, quality control and supply chain.

Participate in product testing of prototypes to aid the design process.

Develop unique solutions to solve product design challenges.

Support the Product Development engineers and designers to develop solid models, engineering drawings and BOM’s for new product concepts.

Communicate with other engineers both in the U.S. and overseas through emails and conference calls.

1+ years of mechanical engineering industry experience, including owning products from concept to production.

Experience with conventional machining and rapid prototyping technologies.

Experience with precision design and manufacturing.

Experience with advanced imaging techniques.

Manage a database for components, requesting quotes, issuing purchase orders, and tracking supplier lead times.

Strong communication skills (written and oral)

Some basic experience with CAD systems (AutoCAD or SolidWorks)

Assist with prototype builds, design of prototype assist tooling, and managing CAD data in company database systems.

Assist with other aspects of the program such as testing and related documentation.

Perform packaging study of Chassis components using Creo parametric and Creo view

Generate packaging study presentation and share in weekly cross functional meeting

Document all geometrical and packaging issues & follow-up with design engineers for closure

Support packaging meetings and the geometrical work forward in an efficient way

Involve in geometry verification plan (virtual builds, physical builds B/C, DMU structure) to improve CAD maturity & quality

Perform pre-study packaging analysis, present consequences, and propose the way forward

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Participate in new product design and development activities within the Advanced Deposition and Etch Product lines

Develop Solid models and create engineering drawings utilizing CAD & Microsoft Office tools

Provide “hands on” assistance and support to prototyping and test activities

Provide assistance in the creation of experimental test plans

A Junior or Senior enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program working towards a Bachelor's degree

Translate product requirements into a mechanical specification and test plan to be used for development

Conduct design analysis and testing, both structural and thermal, to prove design will meet customer requirements

CAD or analysis (FEA) tools exposure, and/or experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, structures and mechanisms

Must be able to apply the principles of Structural Mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities

Working knowledge of one programming language

Provide mechanical engineering support for both new product development activities as well as factory support of existing products

Support testing for future site planning to reduce Opex spend

Faciliitate projects around HVAC, piping and other features of our facilities

Coordinate and lead meetings to leadership on program updates

Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters, or PhD degree at an accredited university

Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in Mechanical Engineering

Must be available full-time, 40 hours per week.

Performs other work-related duties as required by management.

Manages sample prototype and early production builds.

This is an on-site position working year-round

Supports design engineers with all product development phases required to bring automotive high-power connector and terminal concepts into production.

Creates 3D models and product drawings in compliance with Molex Drafting Standards and accepted GD&T methodology.

Provides hands on experimentation support for Research and Development projects.

Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program studying Purchasing, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field

Lead and direct the design, integration, analysis, and testing of components

Support the engineering team with documentation such as managing drawings, writing test reports, and BOM management.

Experience with concept development, feasibility studies, and hands-on prototyping.

Proficiency with 3D modeling (eg. Solidworks, ProEngineer, etc.). Bonus points for simulation experience.

Build prototypes of our next generation products using in-house and external vendors for things like 3D printing, laser cutting, and machining.

Perform various testing and analysis to ensure designs meet product goals, including thermal, fluid, and structural analysis.

Design and build test systems to validate the performance of new designs.

Knows how to use Project Management Software (Trello, Asana, Smartsheet)

Mechanical Engineering major with the following experience:

Strong knowledge of computer and Microsoft products
