Three years licensed experience in Occupational Therapy with at least two years documented experience in area of specialty.

Assist the Manager, Medical Program Operations with grant submissions and the maintenance of data for in process grant-related activities.

Assist the Manager, Medical Program Operations and Directors with special projects as needed.

Effectively use behavior management strategies and implement approved physical intervention procedures (i.e., transportation/escort and immobilization/restraint) as trained.

Follow classroom routines as outlined by the teacher and enact proactive classroom management strategies.

Promote and support peer interactions, generalization of student skills across settings, and work to foster student independence.

Modify academic, socioemotional, and behavioral tasks and materials to meet student needs/abilities as outlined by the teacher and Behavior Resource team.

Accurately collect and record all data in a timely and prescribed manner.

Follow student fitness routines (to include pool and water-based activities) as outlined by the school program.

A minimum of five years teaching experience with Special Education populations is required.

Master’s degree in special education or a related instructional area is required.

MSDE teacher certification is required.

Provide technical assistance and guidance to assigned teachers and classrooms to ensure best practices in the delivery of instructional services.

Insure the appropriate administration, data collection and reporting of informal, formal and state–wide assessments.

Prepare, design and provide in-service training as needed.

Coordinate and implement responses to behavioral crises as part of school-wide crisis management procedures.

Where appropriate, provide consultation to LSS transportation staff regarding behavior management on the bus.

Initiate and monitor data collection systems related to student behavior. Summarize, graph, and analyze data. Share data with classroom teams.

Train classroom staff in the implementation of BIPs and data collection systems. Monitor fidelity of implementation.

Facilitate and implement the school-wide positive behavioral interventions and supports system.

As required by school procedures, complete all necessary documentation of contacts with parents, transportation providers, and other agencies.

Must achieve certification in the State of Maryland as a LCSW-C within SW Department policy.

Participates in interdisciplinary school committees.

Maintains working relationships with staff, students and their families, interdisciplinary and interagency representatives, Institute staff and visitors.

Considers cultural factors in treatment planning for students and in working with their families.
