Advise students in making informed decision regarding international visa requirements.

This position operates with significant autonomy under the general supervision of the Director of Admissions.

Ensures counseling services for international students meet ICE/SEVIS requirements.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) institutional compliance and reporting requirements pertaining to immigration regulations and processes for F-1 international students.

Worldwide educational systems and curriculum structures for the proper review and evaluation of international student applicants.

Applicable laws, regulations, standards, and/or requirements.

Manage, implement, and evaluate internal student marketing, recruitment, enrollment, and support activities.

Manage and prioritize work, projects and/or programs within established deadlines

Prior experience in a similar role within the higher education

Knowledge and experience with online learning

Maintain student record management detailing student demographic information, registration information, and all communication records.

Follows department workflow, school-specific workflow, and additional workflow items as directed by Retention Team Lead or Retention Manager.

Assist students with setting and maintaining personal and educational goals.

Desired: Bachelor’s degree with one to three years of academic advising experience.

Work with students to develop personalized plans to successfully complete academic goals.

Processes university transfers, full-time enrollment, travel, extension of stay, reinstatement, change of status, reduced course load and leave of absence requests.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) in a higher education setting.

Experience working with academic departments in a higher education setting.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Demonstrated knowledge of F-1 and J-1 visa regulations for students.

Manage casework processing for employment-based visa sponsorships, particularly with J-1s, H-1Bs, TNs, O’s and other relevant visa holders

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required

Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience

Professional experience in a student services program area, working with international student and scholar populations

Strong written and verbal skills; confidently conduct presentations for students; advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required

Knowledge of using various computer software systems and applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web-based applications

Counseling and assisting students with immigration matters. Maintaining up-to-date information on SEVIS regulations.

Maintaining a list of qualified doctors, dentists, personal counselors and lawyers and acting as a referral source for students.

Assisting students in filing claims for medical insurance. Keeping accurate records and communicating with the insurance company.

Planning, promoting and conducting student activities and maintaining the student activities budget.

Performing other duties as necessary or assigned.

Planning, coordinating and presenting the new student orientation program in conjunction with other Center personnel.

Education/Experience Preferred For An International Student Leader Specialist

Pay range is typically between $24,960 and $72,800 after the period of support development, based on experience and other factors
