RN Traveler – Cancer Infusion Center – Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion

Cancer Infusion is a solid tumor infusion center that is fast paced and sees ~ 90 pts/day.

13 week assignments available now – extensions options

Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and education in order to provide this specialty service in an outpatient environment.

Additionally, one (1) year outpatient experience is preferred.

Successful completion of clinical orientation and IV skill assessment.

Independently provides and coordinates care provided to patients within the clinical specialty.

Provides and coordinates infusion activities to assure compassionate and effective patient care.

Must have demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills and effective English written and communication skills.

Minimum of six (6) months area specific acute care experience within the last two (2) years Preferred

Good interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) and teamwork skills are required.

Six (6) months of chemo experience, as well as successful completion of ONS/ONCC

Mobile Intensive Care Nurse Certification (MICN) within one (1) year of start date and must maintain recognition.

Infusion Nurse Essential Duties and Responsibilities

RN License in the State you work

Participates in total quality management to positively affect patient and system outcomes to improve care.

Ability to recognize knowledge gaps and apply appropriate education techniques to bridge gaps

Keeps current on advances in nursing care by participating in educational programs.

Utilizes knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control, and safety precaution; and initiates appropriate interventions in crisis situations.

Provides education and follow-up care after patients have been released from chemotherapy.

Adult teaching experience; patient advocacy

Knowledge of medical terminology, drug calculation skills, clinical medicine, clinical trials and GCP concepts

Participates in recruitment and selection of study participants by interviewing and documenting medical history to determine compliance with eligibility requirements

Manage all nurse functions of the Infusion suite, including IV pump inventory and basic equipment troubleshooting.

Provides patient education and medical information to study patients to ensure understanding of proper medication dosage, administration, and disease treatment

Communicates and collaborates specific study requirements to the research team, including internal and external parties, sponsor, monitors, PI, and study participants

Nursing competency skills per scope of practice (i.e., performing vital signs, nursing assessments, performing ECG/EKG, administering injections, IV insertion, etc.)
