Industrial Chemist Jobs

Experience in wet chemical analysis and precious metals analysis preferred.

Experienced with ICP, AAS, IC and general instrumental methods preferred.

Prepares and reviews assay in specified form to be approved by Senior Chemist or Supervisor.

Participates in shift change over and communicates the status of all analyses and needed work.

B.S. in Chemistry or equivalent industrial experience.

Experience in mechanical evaluation of composite samples

Experience with Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA)

Experience working with hydrofluoric acid (HF)

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Performs a variety of assignments such as conducting architectural studies, developing design concepts and design criteria, and preparing related reports.

Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.

Writes construction specifications and prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.

Interfaces with suppliers as required.

Assists in management and development of processes and safety programs;

Provides on-call and overtime support as needed in the evenings and other required times as designated by management;

Specialized technical/aptitude experience: minimum of 1-5 years’ experience, and demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with gravimetric and analytic techniques.

Displays adaptability in learning the use of relevant software and displays comprehension of fundamental computer practices and database management.

Manages inventory reduction per departmental inventory reduction strategy;

Develop in depth knowledge of how to operate analytical instruments and other standard laboratory equipment relevant to job responsibilities

Maintain awareness of regulatory and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements relevant to job responsibilities

Acquire basic knowledge of plant floor operations and equipment

A minimum of 0-6 months experience in an Analytical lab, or pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetic or consumer products industries

Proven proficiency in laboratory skills training in chemistry

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Research experience with actinide or lanthanide elements.

**Once eligibility requirements are met.

Hands on laboratory work involving the actinide elements, (e.g., U, Np, and Pu).

Wet chemistry, including radiochemical or elemental separations.

Material synthesis ranging from small-molecule complexes to inorganic materials such as, UO2 or PuO2.

Analysis methods will include X-ray diffraction, vibrational and optical spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, surface area analysis, density measurements, or particle size analysis.

3 years of full-time industrial hygiene experience (preferred)

Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, engineering, physical science, or life science

12 hours of chemistry (preferred)

18 additional hours of science, chemistry, industrial hygiene, and related disciplines (preferred)

BS/BA and 2 years of relevant experience -OR-

PhD in chemical biology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, proteomics, or related field. 2+ years of experience.

Experience to advance proteomics techniques such as imaging and/or top-down analyses.

Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently as well as in interdisciplinary group settings with internal and external collaborators.

Previous relevant internships, co-op or work experience

Prior experience with colorant, pigments, or pigment dispersions experience

Quality testing of incoming raw materials, components, in process batches, and finished products against established specifications.

Entering test results into Electronic Bench Records (EBR).

Achieved Chemistry Technician qualification with 5 years Nuclear chemistry experience OR Navy ELT

Participate in GSEP and Duty rotation. Subject to call out as required in support of station requirements. (5%)

4 year BS chemistry or related degree and minimum of 6 years related exempt/professional experience Or

Achieved Chemistry Technician qualification or Navy ELT with 2 years as a Chemist or

8 years nuclear plant experience with a minimum 5 years in operations, chemistry, or radwaste or

4 year chemistry or related degree and 2 years as Chemist 1 or directly related experience

Ensure compliance to method and regulatory requirements, including training, QA/QC oversight, and maintenance/calibration documentation

Strong mechanical skills and ability to use tools to maintain instrumentation

Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Demonstrated teamwork, communication, planning/organizing, leadership skills

Knowledge of refinery test methods (e.g. ASTM methods for: GC, AA, IC, XRF, elemental analysis, and wet chemistry)

Knowledge and understanding of refinery processes.

Analytical chemistry skills, and prior experience with research techniques, spectroscopy, chromatography, and spectrophotometer required.

Knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

Assist in chemical and environmental risk identification and assessment, offering input with low to mid-level threat mitigation activities.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

3 to 5 years of experience working as a Chemist.

Knowledge with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products., and mitigation programs.

Travel Requirement is 5% or less.

Experience on GCs, petroleum refinery and environmental methods and ICP metals is preferred.

Experience with Statistical Quality Control (SQC) is preferred.

Experience as a Chemist is preferred.

Collaborate with lab team to adapt and validate laboratory methods consistent with ASTM standards.

Monitor and investigate Statistical Quality Control data to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualification and validation of new test method and instrumentation.

Qualification/validation of new test methods, instruments, and computer programs.

Must have a working knowledge of most chromatography and spectroscopy instrumentation, i.e. GC, GC-MS, HPLC, FT-IR, AA, ICP-MS, and UV/Vis.

Must have a working knowledge of wet chemical techniques and standard analytical test methods.

Must have a working knowledge of standard computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, Access, and etc.

This position is responsible for executing analytical test requests from a variety of clients, and reporting results.
