Imaging Clerk Mammography Jobs

Detailed knowledge of the digital scanning process including an understanding of how digital scanners work.

Must have skill and proficiency using a computer workstation and scanner systems.

Responsible for preparing and scanning paper documents according to customer specifications and directions.

Accepting changes to those specifications and directions understanding customer needs may change.

Utilize the automatic feeder and flatbed scanner to scan a variety of paper sizes.

Set scanner parameters as identified for each job to ensure accurate handling per customer specifications.

Maintains imaging equipment. Makes setting adjustments, as needed. Informs management of any mechanical issues/repair needs

Prepares patient for exam. Translates procedure into layman terms, based on professional knowledge, to relieve patient of any pre-testing anxiety

Communicates with Radiologist to confirm required exam details and ensure optimal quality of images.

Reviews and correlates patient's prior imaging reports, using Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System lexicons, to categorize procedure to be performed

Performs mammography exams according to established standards and procedures of division. Adjusts imaging equipment and operates controls to obtain correct exposure

Performs general x-ray exams including, but not limited to, bone density exams, as needed

Manages and Solves patient, personnel or referring physicain complaints/issues. Communicates problems or concerns with management.

Assists in developing the skills of other staff members and assists with orientation of new employees in the radiology area

Ensures ACR and MQSA requirements are being met

Refers to physician's orders/chart for any special instructions that may be indicated.

Other: Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program or equivalent education/experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN

2 years requires basic clinical and practical experience as typically acquired in a similar environment.

Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Schedule: PRN/Day Shift- M-F Shift varies 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm. May need to work an occasional Saturday with the same hours.

Use the radiology information system to identify, loan and track radiology records.

Coordinate record retrieval and delivery for all radiology and clinic appointments, hospital procedures, research projects and other needs as requested.

Assist with the development and implementation of departmental policies concerning the storage, delivery and retrieval of radiology records.

Perform and document research on missing files.

Associate degree in Applied Science in Radiologic Technology, one-year experience as a Radiologic Technologist, and advanced certification in mammography.

NYS licensure registration in Radiologic Technology with Mammography credential, ARRT certification.

CPR certification within first three months of hire.

Clinical – Access to patient information that is not restricted (an example of restricted information is ARU) – Level 3.

HIPAA Roles-Based Access to Patient Information

Inputs patient history information at time of exam/test into the practice management system. Scans relevant medical documentation related to patient's case.

Experience as registered technologist in another radiology modality may be applicable.

BLS Certification (issued by the American Heart Association)

Approximately 2 years of experience working as a mammography technologist

Assists current and new employees in the use of systems/equipment and departmental policies and procedures.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Operates approved digital imaging equipment using established ACR and FDA guidelines along with imaging protocols set within the mammography program.

Documents correct information on each patient using EMR and facility reporting systems.

Verifies patient and procedure using University and departmental established protocols.

Monitors and records the physiological condition of the patient prior to and throughout the procedure.

Ensures proper safety standards are met.

Has over one year experience in Mammograpy.

At least one year experience in mammography required.

Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms utilizing mammography equipment and following all safety guidelines relating to radiation exposure.

Will have competency in all aspects of Radiology, patient positioning, and radiation Protection.

Has an Associate degree in Radiology.

Performs Screening and diagontic Mammogram prodecure.

Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; Excel, Outlook, and Word is a plus.

Ability to lift 10 pounds.

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

Prior office and scheduling experience, preferably within a hospital setting.

Prior experience answering multiple telephone lines, preferably in a medical setting.

Knowledge of basic medical terminology is desired.

Assists with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.

Continually strives to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.

Certification in Mammography: R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes.

Obtain ARRT Mammography Certification within one year of hire date.
