Responsible for performing routine screening mammograms complex diagnostic procedures using digital mammography equipment under the direction of a radiologist. Willing to train a technologist that is already registered in Radiography!
- Documents correct information on each patient using EMR and facility reporting systems.
- Verifies patient and procedure using University and departmental established protocols.
- Assists in maintaining supply inventory.
- Instructs students and residents and performs preceptor duties when necessary.
- Participates in on-going service and process improvement efforts.
- Operates approved digital imaging equipment using established ACR and FDA guidelines along with imaging protocols set within the mammography program.
- Ensures proper safety standards are met.
- Performs quality assurance checks on equipment.
- Monitors and records the physiological condition of the patient prior to and throughout the procedure.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of a JRC accredited program in Radiography required. Associate’s Degree in Radiography preferred. Completion of an FDA certified Mammography Tech Training Program required.
Experience: No experience required
Licensure: Registered Radiologic Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT R.T.) required. ARRT (R)(M) certification required within one year of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping and traveling, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, fumes, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
