Disseminating information to supervisory staff to enhance Institutional/agency intelligence.

Surveillance of potential threat areas. Interview and verify photographs have been taken of all new arrivals.

Complete paperwork/packets on inmates who are suspected to be involved in gang activity or want to renounce.

Assist contraband staff in searching cells of suspected gang members.

Monitor inmate phone calls. Maintain accurate records of all confiscated items such as written material containing code and symbols.

Eighteen (18) months experience in correctional, security, military, or police work.

Ensures adequate safety & security of institution, inmates and public.

Is up to date on the daily and quarterly inventories.

Receives, reviews, and prepares written reports. maintains a current master key control inventory of all keys & locks.

Maintains control of all institutional keys and security equipment within assigned area of responsibility.

Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Eighteen (18) months of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work.

Incumbent must remain alert and aware of escape risks inherent with transporting inmates outside the secure confines of the institution.

Ensure proper documents are sent with the inmate.

Conducts routine, unannounced security checks.

Assigned to the institution when hospital duty is not necessary.

Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

At least one (1) year experience as a Correctional Officer is recommended.

Thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures relating to security of the Facility.

Reports for duty, ready to work, at assigned time for briefing and post assignment.

Conducts and maintain accurate counts of inmates at all times including counts at irregular times when directed.

Maintains security of all keys and equipment assigned to staff on their shift.

Conducts security inspections of equipment; searches and shakedown of housing units, work and administrative areas as required, directed, or assigned.
