Histology Prep Technician Jobs

Demonstrates working knowledge of order entry process and transcription of physician orders.

Maintains statistics/logs as required by the unit Manager/Director.

Accurately documents care provided according to policies and procedures..

Coordinates unit functions to provide safe and smooth operations by

Participates in economical utilization of supplies and ensures that equipment and nursing units are maintained in a clean, safe manner.

Applies safety principles when performing care, such as ambulation of patients, transferring patients, assisting with normal range of motion and positioning.

Work with the project management team on PC builds and network equipment deployments

Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:

Performs a variety of special stains (manual process)

Operates and performs maintenance on laboratory equipment including tissue processors, embedding stations, automated H&E stainer and film coverslipper, and microtomes

Successful completion of a visual color discrimination test

Ability to work efficiently and produce high quality slides

Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED), required.

Performs all routine embedding, cutting and staining of surgical specimens.

Performs related duties, as required.

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and/or oral instructions.

Good manual and physical dexterity is required.

Participates in continuing education programs.

Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s) and politics.

Knowledge of clinical processes and medical terminology.

Knowledge of applicable federal, state, hospital and regulatory committee rules and regulations.

Knowledge of privacy laws and regulations.

1+ years of healthcare practice experience preferred.

Opens laboratory for daily operation, checks temperatures, all equipment, machines and document.

Education: 60 semester hours including either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses

Basic instrument maintenance (temperatures, monitoring reagents), supply inventory and quality control to review and evaluate test or instrument performance.

Interact daily with pathologists, residents, and both intradepartmental and interdepartmental staff.
