Under general direction provides histology services for Alaska Native Medical Center.
Must have American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification or equivalent, as a Histology Technician or contact Recruitment directly at [email protected].

Summary: Under general direction provides histology services for Alaska Native Medical Center.


Responsibilities:

  • Answers questions from patient providers regarding test processes, patient results, or sample collection techniques.
  • Identifies and resolves inconsistencies in patient results.
  • Evaluates, judges and interprets test results.
  • Trains new employees and laboratory students.
  • Ensures quality control and functionality of instruments.
  • Provides customer service for questions directed to laboratory.
  • Accepts and processes samples for on-site testing or to contracted reference laboratories.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Performs patient specimen preparation. Ensures sample suitability.
  • Prepares tissue samples for physician analysis.
  • Monitors, maintains, orders and stocks laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Participates in continuing education programs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
An Associate’s degree in clinical pathology or progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Non-supervisory – One (1) year of clinical laboratory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
