2Nd Grade Literacy Teacher Jobs

Knowledge of child development, progressive education, and constructivist teaching

Bachelor's degree in music education or related field; a master’s degree is preferable

Proficiency in reading music and keyboard skills, including transposing and sight-reading

Desire to work collaboratively utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to education Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to diversity, social justice, and equity

Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Skilled in designing instruction that is data-driven, differentiated, and actively engaging

Demonstrates a command of classroom management by managing transitions between activities or classes.

Translates lesson plans/instructional strategies into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.

Engages students in a variety of learning experiences that promote self-directed learning and student inquiry.

Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.

Maintains availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.

Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

Follow all State of Illinois codes relative to the requirements of the Educational program and curriculum

Observe and adhere to all Board of Education policies and regulations, and all administrative rules and procedures (AR)

Communicate educational initiatives, objectives and programs to the Administration, Staff and Community

Adhere to the new PERA law and Senate Bill 7 which describes the Illinois Learning Standards and requirements for good teaching

Be knowledgeable of and adhere to the District Safety Plan

Attend Board meetings when necessary to provide supportive materials and information

Meets all certification requirements for the grade level or subject area including proper teaching area endorsements.

Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives

Monitors and assesses student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students and their parents

Diagnoses, instructs and evaluates specific student needs and seeks assistance of district specialists as required

Communicates aims and/or objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language

Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students

Knowledge of content in certification area

Maintain good classroom organization, management and discipline.

Education should encourage individuals to acquire knowledge and attitudes necessary to live in a changing global society.

You have, ideally, certification to teach in D.C.

Salary: $63,000 - $78,678 (commensurate with 1-10 years of experience)

Lead literacy instruction for students, from planning to executing engaging and rigorous lessons

Provide emotional constancy and support for your students -- and your colleagues.

Work with your team to analyze a range of summative and formative assessment data to thoughtfully adjust and differentiate instruction.
