Job Description

The Upper Darby School District is seeking applicants to fill a 2nd Grade Elementary Teacher position at Garrettford Elementary School.

    • PA Instructional Certificate: Out-of-state educators and anyone seeking an emergency certificate should review the guidelines set by the PA Department of Education. Pennsylvania Certification information is available at:

    Job Goal:


    To participate, as a member of the instructional staff, in directing the learning of elementary students. Such participation shall be directed toward attainment of general and specific objectives of the curricula of the school, and of the school district.


    Essential Functions:

    • Provide performing opportunities for students.
    • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
    • Maintain good classroom organization, management and discipline.
    • Conduct an ongoing assessment of student progress in order to provide instruction to ensure continuous student growth.
    • Demonstrate appropriate planning, the use of a variety of instructional techniques and strategies, and the incorporation of technology where possible to supplement instruction.
    • Maintain student records including all required paperwork.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and be available for educational purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
    • Pursue ongoing professional growth opportunities.
    • Plan purposeful assignments for volunteer(s).
    • Attend staff meetings, and department meetings and serve on building and District committees as required.
