Establishes personal and authentic presence while sharing experience, skills, and knowledge with students.

Knowledge of, and experience within the last 10 years of teaching, children with mild and moderate and/or extensive support needs required.

Minimum 1 year of online teaching experience in a higher education setting required.

Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience developing and maintaining higher education courses required.

Knowledge of the California teacher standards and expectations for teacher candidates earning an Education Specialist credential preferred.

Qualifications for teaching in Special Education faculty position

Effective communication skills in English

Interest and experience working effectively with a diverse university community

Ph.D. in English or a related field

Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship

Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines

Utilize the online learning platform to enrich the learning experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of academic evaluation.

Proficiency in oral presentation skills, planning and organizing of course objectives.

Demonstrated knowledge of academic technology.

Ability to manage potentially stressful situations in a professional and ethical manner.

Attend immersion sessions, if invited, when offered.

Historical contexts of major media industries as they apply to contemporary trends

Fundamentals of media business and ownership

Practices and problems around inclusivity, diversity, equity, and access in the field of communications
