Assist the Head Hockey Coach with all assigned duties associated with the Intercollegiate Hockey Program.

Providing assistance in coaching and instruction to players, improving skills, techniques, and promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development.

1-3 years of experience as a coach preferred, preferably at the college level.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.

Develops a work schedule and expectations with the Head Coach.

Other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.

Donald F. Vaughan Head Coach of Men's Ice Hockey / Instructor in Physical Education

Scheduling conference and non-conference competitions

Responsible for hiring and oversight of assistant coaches

Attracting and evaluating the best fit prospective student-athletes

Strategic allocation of scholarship and admission resources

Ensuring student-athlete academic progress and well-being

Previous coaching experience is strongly preferred .

Assists with the scouting and recruitment of student-athletes, including on-campus visits of prospective student-athletes

Monitors the conditioning and training of student-athletes, in conjunction with the Strength and Athletic Training staff

Participates in the collection and analysis of tactical and statistical data of opponents and assists in designing game plans and strategies.

Attend coaches’ preparatory meetings and implements strategies resulting from these meetings

Advises and counsels with student-athletes regarding their obligations to comply with all rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility

High level club or college coaching experience

Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and a record of compliance

Strong verbal and written skills

4 years hockey at the Division 1 NCAA level

An established applicable recruiting network

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, QuickTime, iMovie

This position will require flexibility to work long, irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holiday hours.

Daily practice set up (towels, jerseys, socks, laundry bags, sport drinks, water, etc.)

Pre- practice skate sharpening, equipment repairs, equipment modifications, and sewing

Pre-practice bench set up: water bottles, coaches board, tape, sticks, tires, etc.

Post-practice skate sharpening, equipment repair (sewing), equipment modification, equipment replacement, equipment cleaning, and laundry

Prior coaching experience at varsity high school level or higher
