Entry Level Water Resources Engineer Jobs in Utah

Knowledge and experience with wells and/or groundwater management design elements

Project design experience (stormwater management facility design, site and roadway design, drainage control plan development) including preparation of plans and specifications

Project or task management experience

Demonstrated written and oral presentation skills

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certified or ability to obtain certification within one year

Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling experience, including snowpack assessment

Technical knowledge, experience and/or education in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, calculations, and design.

Possesses excellent time management skills, thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.

Developing water management plans related to industrial water use and erosion control,

Knowledge of software packages such as HEC-HMS, SEDCAD, HEC-RAS 1D and 2D, GoldSim. Experience with Flo-2D is preferred.

Strong writing skills and experience with producing technical memos, reports and specification documents.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree (preferred) in civil, environmental or water resources engineering with emphasis in water management.

0 to 5 of related experience required

Perform hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations of collection systems and open channels models.

Perform GIS analysis to support hydrologic and hydraulic model development

Prepare engineering calculations and supporting analysis of alternatives

Prepare and evaluate wet weather control alternatives

Prepare design reports and construction plans using local and state standards

Technical background and knowledge to work with regulatory and highly technical water management issues.

Demonstrated project management skills, particularly as they may relate to environmental protection programs and initiatives.

Ability to employ strong organizational and time management skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities and Work Environment

Two years' of professional water resources engineering experience, AND

Two years' of experience translating complex engineering and science concepts into clear and understandable terms that the general public would understand.

BA/BS plus 2 years or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

Experience designing storm drainage systems, hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analysis, bridge hydraulics, scour analysis, construction plans development, cost estimates.

Experience using the following software: Bentley MicroStation, Bentley Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Hydraulic Toolbox

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Drafters to set-up and manage construction drawings and design documentation.

Engineer-in-Training certification or has passed the FE exam

0-6 years of experience collecting data, completing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, writing reports, and preparing design drawings

Support for continuing education and training opportunities

Potential salary for this position is $70,000-90,000 depending on applicable experience

Designing of potable water, stormwater, and sanitary sewer systems.
