While around children/on duty, staff can't:

Knowledge and experience with young children.

Child/Infant CPR/AED/first aid certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required.

Greeting each parent, interacting with parents, and following up on the needs of the child.

Observing and playing with children.

Ensuring that the children in their care are safe and engaged in developmental activities.

Participating in child’s activities: reading, painting, crafts, play.

Knowledge and experience with young children is strongly preferred.

Experience in customer service preferred.

Planning of activities for the children and assisting with stimulating and age-appropriate games and tasks.

Planning activities for age of child

Minimum of six months experience working with children in a childcare environment.

A college degree in early childhood education is preferred.

Being courteous and exercising tact when dealing with the public.

Being familiar with approved methods of problem behaviors of young children.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Follow duties assigned by the Program Director or Associate Executive Director. These duties may include:

Straightening up the Kidspace room: washing dishes, cleaning toys, cleaning the fridge and tabletops, and vacuuming.

Supervising children while playing indoors

Changing diapers and toileting children

Preparing, feeding, and cleaning up children’s meals and snacks

Performing other various other tasks: reading stories, playing games, and communicating with parents

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Basic computer knowledge (Excel, Word, and email)

Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the KidCare areas to ensure the over-all safety of the children entrusted to our care.

Properly complete any and all internal required paperwork.

Respond to any emergency involving children in the care of VASA Fitness.

First Aid and CPR certified within first 60 days of employment.

Thorough knowledge of City and departmental rules and regulations; principles, practices, and techniques of modern child care work. Skills

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

6 months experience and understanding of basic child care needs, or experience in hospitality/customer service

Must be at least 16 years of age

High school diploma, GED, or in process

Once hired, we reimburse up to $50 upon request

Part-time, 15-25 hours a week

There are no supervisory responsibilities.

1. Supervises and interacts with children in the Child Watch area in a safe and professional manner.

2. Ensures all children are registered and signed in/out by parent and/or guardian.

5. Take all reasonable measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children in child watch.

6. Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety

procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.

Register with the Dept. of Social Services - TrustLine Division (sorry, it's Calif. Law)

Once hired, we reimburse up to $50 upon request

Experience Prefer at least one year’s experience in childcare. Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.

Certifications/Licensure CPR certification through American Heart Association BLS or Heartsaver with AED or American Red Cross with AED.

Highs School Students Must be 16 yrs or older

Must be able to hear children in case of emergencies and smell for any potential dangerous situations.
