Attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skills

Experience with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, and 3D modeling software

Knowledge of garment construction, including pattern-making, draping, and sewing

Prior internship or work experience in fashion design or a related field is preferred, but not required

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field

Teach undergraduate courses in appropriate field(s) within the Department of Narrative Arts’ Digital Media programs.

Oversee design, development, and delivery of new courses within candidate’s area(s) of expertise.

Participate in scholarly and creative activities related to field(s) of instruction.

Perform service activities consistent with HCU’s teaching mission.

Assists faculty and students with the development and implementation of the departmental fashion shows.

Assists with High School dual credit projects and "Harper Challenge".

Maintains inventory of departmental machinery, equipment, and supplies.

Experience teaching both lower and upper-division undergraduate Design History and Theory courses and seminars

At least one year of full-time teaching experience (or the equivalent in part-time positions) at the college level

Experience in curriculum development for undergraduate and graduate programs

Experience of successfully working with populations demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body

10+ years of product design experience at a high-growth handbag, shoe or accessory company required

5+ years of experience managing a team of designers required

Experience working in a founder-led company in a design role preferred

Category knowledge on handbags, small leather goods and accessories in both leather and synthetics

Excellent ability to listen, comprehend and communicate aesthetic and conceptual intent with a particular focus on brand objectives and production capabilities

7+ years minimum of designing and or product development experience in the apparel industry

Advanced technical knowledge of fabric, construction and garment engineering

Master’s degree preferred, or professional, high-level fashion industry experience and training, which equates to a graduate degree

Significant professional/industry executive experience exceeding eight years in lieu of an advanced degree

Intermediate skills in Excel and presentation software, and adept at speaking to large audiences

Exceptional communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal

International experiences that bring an understanding of other cultures to the classroom

An established research portfolio in a fashion applicable field

Participates in school management and shares the responsibility for the total school program.

Appropriate CTE certificate in direct field/ ability to obtain appropriate certification

Clear and professional communication skills (verbal and written)

Provides an instructional program to meet the needs of all students including students with disabilities.

Appraises own effectiveness and demonstrates successful application of skills and information acquired to increase effectiveness.

Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate in the appropriate subject area

Preferred Skills / Additional Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or associate's degree in Fashion Design and three years of nonteaching, work-related experience.

One year of demonstrated teaching experience required.

Maintain knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic discipline or workforce field

Maintain any required professional certification or licensure in the appropriate academic or technical discipline, where appropriate

Master’s degree or professional, high-level fashion industry experience and training that equates to a graduate degree

Significant professional/industry executive experience exceeding eight years in lieu of advanced degree
