Experience in building production ML systems

Experience with / working in one of the following fields: forecasting, delivery optimization, network optimization, revenue optimization, machine learning

Use forecasting, operations research, and network optimization to predict and improve Etsy’s delivery performance

Develop models with custom architecture or objective functions that target Etsy-specific problems, including but not limited to revenue optimization, seasonality

Strong interest and experience in applying behavioral science concepts and principles in partnership with product teams.

Broad knowledge of behavioral science concepts and theories.

Sophisticated knowledge of statistics and data analysis common to the field of behavioral science

Strong data science skills with Proficiency in R and/or Python.

5+ years of relevant, broad research science experience after PhD degree or equivalent.

Demonstrable work experience on optimization models that have been deployed into production systems (strategic, planning, and/or operational).

Experience in writing scripts (Python) and/or software applications in programming languages such as C++, Java.

Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience working in a start-up environment, particularly within the education or fintech space is a plus

Conduct computational due diligence on prospective educational partners, such as payments, graduation rates, and placement rates.

Experience with dynamic income modeling, survival analysis, scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and risk assessment is a plus.

Build and maintain a database of student borrowers and OBL payment activity.

Maintain and innovate a data pipeline of private and public data sources to refine labor force predictions for student borrowers.

Create computationally-informed thought leadership for Outcome’s blog and external communications.

Good communication skills to convey technical concepts in straightforward terms with product managers and various stakeholders.

Close partnership with product managers and software engineers to deploy solutions into production in various business-critical scenarios.

Hands-on experience with distributed training of large language models.

Strong development experience of deep learning modeling in Python.

Industrial experience in system design, software development, and production deployment

Excel in transforming ambiguous requirements into actionable plans with deep learning techniques for problem-solving.

A minimum of 2-4 years conducting in-person fieldwork in non-Western countries.

Availability to write a minimum of 2 reports/year with 1-3 months notice.

Previous publications on countries and topics of expertise.

Ability to utilize a wide range of interdisciplinary research and journalistic findings to write reports to support asylum and refugee cases.
