Demonstrated ability to understand and successfully apply industrial engineering and manufacturing operations fundamentals

Demonstrated ability to prioritize, initiate, and drive projects to completion

Strict adherence to quality standards and ability to ensure they meet customer requirements and company standards

Previous experience working in painting/coating operation

Experience operating HVLP, airless, or conventional pressure spraying systems and maintenance of such systems

Experience using solvent based coatings

Experience with epoxy, high solids, zinc coatings, and multiple part coating systems

Operate conventional, HVLP and airless spraying equipment

(Eight years of fieldwork experience may be substituted for the California Apprenticeship Certificate of Completion at the discretion of the Director)

Perform a variety of skilled journey-level work to maintain interior and exterior surfaces and painting duties.

Apply under and finish coats. E

Refinish furniture and other equipment. E

Erect rig; move ladders, scaffolding, and platforms. E

Layout and mark parking lots and play areas. E

Mechanical Skills: Tear down and reassembly of equipment

2 years on the job experience or technical trade school

To complete the necessary repairs and apply protective coatings on all equipment as needed.

Complete all tasks in a timely manner

Use aluminum body repair tools

Applying polyurethane coating (Patriot Liner)

Develops and tests machinery and equipment under direction of plant engineer and/or senior engineers by performing the following duties:

Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.

May, on occasion, be required to perform other duties as necessary to ensure efficient plant operations.

Required work skills and knowledge

Use correct paint equipment settings and adjustments

Perform daily maintenance routines on paint equipment

Identify and mask areas that are not to be painted

Use proper paint application procedures

Inspect paint job in progress for quality problems, such as runs and missed areas

Knowledge and experience working with the surface preparation standards SSPC.

Minimum 2 year painter and sandblaster experience.

Retrieves and stores paints from storage supply

Prepares work area including: Masking, Sanding, and Barricading.

Sandblast of structural steel and associated equipment to remove surface rust, mill scale or other impurities

Will use a Fresh Air or Full Face Mask and Tyvek Suits (PPE) to perform duties

Wage based on experience and education.

Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and related equipment.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Good communication and interaction skills

Mixing and application of paints and other industrial coatings.

Preparation of material prior to painting-as well as packaging finished product.

Performs all types of industrial painting work and surface preparation.

Prepares various surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, sanding, sandblasting or other means as necessary.

Mixes, and blends various paints, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and special protective coatings for specified consistency, and drying properties.

Erects and uses ladders, scaffolding, and swinging stage equipment as required.

Paint work and Fireproofing on various structures, equipment, and piping using brush, spray gun or other applicators.

Candidate must be available for all shifts

Excellent knowledge of VOC requirements.

Certification from a vocational school or trade school preferred.

2 to 5 years of industrial painter experience is preferred.

Excellent knowledge of industrial coatings and painting processes.

Painting certifications may be required.

Communicates regularly with team members and management regarding concerns, discrepancies, and continuous improvement efforts/ideas.

Follows work safety requirements and works safely all the time.

Previous experience in Industrial Painting is highly preferred.

Previous experience in a Manufacturing environment is preferred.

Previous painting experience in industrial type settings is preferred.

Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces on buildings and structures utilizing various types of paint materials/coatings.

Work at all heights utilizing lift trucks, scissor lifts, boom lifts, snorkel lifts, bucket trucks, ladders, and scaffolding.

Operate, clean, and maintain all painting equipment including sprayers, rollers, mixers, compressors, power washers, etc.

Safely use, store, and label all paint materials, including solvents and cleaners.

Must be able to wear respirator and other required PPE.

Acquire knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements

Inspect surfaces that are to be painted

Paint in detailed and large-scale settings

Maintain painting equipment to ensure proper performance

Inspect painted surfaces for flaws that occurred in the initial painting process

Painting experience/training preferred. Successful completion of Vermeer Paint Training Program.

Calculate figures and apply basic mathematical functions including ratios and percentages.

Ability to perform problem solving techniques and root cause analysis.

Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to assess, evaluate and carry out appropriate action for a given situation.

Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals throughout the organization.
