Job Description
Position Summary:
The Texas Legends are seeking talented part-time youth basketball coaches to assist with coaching, event operation support, and fan engagement at Legends Basketball Academy and Community Basketball Program events during the 2022-2023 season.
Our mission is to provide an enjoyable and memorable basketball experience for boys and girls ages 6-18 of varying skill levels. We are seeking coaches who have a passion for teaching the game and sharing their love of basketball with Texas Legends fans to join our team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Demonstrate positivity, high energy and exhibit professionalism at all Community Basketball activations
  • Demonstrate and communicate Legends values and Jr NBA principles to youth participants: teamwork, respect, hard work, sportsmanship, fundamentals, and healthy living
  • Provide outstanding customer service to youth, parents, clients, corporate partners, and fans
  • Transport basketball equipment to and from events utilizing the Legends marketing vehicle fleet (driver training and valid driver’s license required prior to using company vehicle)
  • Lead age-appropriate basketball skills, drills, games, and competitions for kids and players ages 6-18
  • Assist with planning and execution of Texas Legends Community Basketball and Legends Basketball Academy programs & events (Ex. camps, clinics, tournaments, leagues, skills challenges, contests, corporate partner activations, etc.)
  • Assist with load-ins and load-outs for community basketball events
  • Promote Texas Legends Basketball Academy events in addition to Legends at Home and Community Basketball programming
  • Perform on and off-court basketball instruction and engagement at basketball camps, clinics, and events hosted by the Texas Legends Community Basketball Programs and Legends Basketball Academy
  • Assist with prospecting Texas Legends Basketball Academy community partners—develop, build and maintain relationships with basketball directors at churches, recreation centers, community organizations, and other scholastic basketball programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be organized, punctual, and pay attention to detail. Team Player mentality
  • Experience playing and coaching basketball preferred
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to and from event locations
  • Experience coaching and/or teaching youth preferred
  • CANNOT be affiliated with an AAU Boys Basketball Program (NBA RULE)
  • Prior experience working basketball camps, clinics, tournaments is preferred
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms
  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Must be comfortable working in groups of people and enjoy public speaking
  • CANNOT work with draft ineligible players (EX: international players, top 100 high school players)
  • The ability to work nights, weekends and holiday seasons is preferred
