Job Description

The City of North Las Vegas announces a posting to fill (1) vacancy for the classification of WRF Operator II. The current vacancy are in the Utilities Department.


NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES: Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, non-probationary employees successfully completing the qualification assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to one hundred and twenty (120) days.

  • Pay – The starting hourly pay for this position is $28.05 (Step 1). All new employees hired for this position will start at Step 1 of the range; no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
  • Environment – Regular exposed to outside weather conditions: non weather related hot and cold temperatures: conditions such as fumes, noxious orders, dust, mist, gases, and poor ventilation that affect the respiratory system, eyes, or the skin: bodily injury from explosions, radiation, falling from high, exposed places, and moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, or machinery. Work with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and substances found in the wastewater treatment process.
  • Work Schedule – Schedule will be 4 days per week, 9 hours per day. Incumbents may work evening, night, weekends, holiday shift, standby, work extended shifts, or be called back in emergency situations.

MINIMMUM QUALIFICATIONS


WRF Operator II:

  • Equivalent combinations of experience, training, and/or education which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the major functions of the position may be considered.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent AND two (2) years of full-time professional experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility.


SELECTION PROCESS



1. Test/ Practical
2. Oral board (Weight 100%, Passing Score 70%)
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
