Position Summary
United Way of Central Iowa is seeking a Women United Director to identify, develop and maintain high quality relationships with individuals and organizations to attract and sustain resources to support the organization’s United to Thrive strategy of Early Childhood Success. Women United is an affinity group that focuses on engaging philanthropists by aligning giving, advocacy and volunteerism to ensure children ages 0 to 8 succeed in life and school. This position integrates relationship building, fundraising and volunteer engagement strategies year-round that create a consistent, positive experience for donors at every touch point.
The qualified candidate will have exceptional relationship building skills and be able to naturally generate enthusiasm of potential and existing Women United members toward the common purpose of Early Childhood Success. Proven success at setting and meeting goals, working well in teams and independently, strong listening and communications skills, and the ability to empower and defer to others when applicable is required. Qualifications also include:
- Computer literate with competencies in Word, Excel, and database management.
- Creating and executing events.
- Driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to drive own vehicle.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Extensive related experience can be considered in lieu of some education.
- Volunteer management strongly preferred.
- Five years of progressive experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or public relations or three years’ experience in non-profit donor relations.
- The ability to travel with potential overnight stays 1-2 times per year.
- Engaging communication and presentation skills.
The hiring salary range for this position is $68,500 – $73,000 depending on experience. We strongly encourage individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply!
