Waste Water Operator 1St

Pay: $25.60 - $35.20 per hour (Based on experience)

Hours: 5:00AM - 5:00PM 3/2/2 Schedule

This position will require flexibility and possible coverage on weekends when needed.

• The primary goal of the Operator is to improve the reliability, efficiency, and operation of the wastewater treatment and disposal facility while operating the plant within water contaminant discharge limits. Maintains a Safety Working Environment, knows and follows HACCP program and principles, USDA guidelines, and Good Manufacturing Practices.

• Repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems; ensures safe and optimum functioning equipment, systems and processes. Includes rebuilding and replacing pumps and motors; repairing leaks and performing plumbing repairs; performs minor electrical and mechanical work. (20%)

• Monitors and operates the grease transfer system; skimming DAF's as needed, monitors and operates proper grease and water separation from the work tank to the tanker to be hauled off for rendering. Interprets meters, gauges, and chemical testing results to determine appropriate actions for regulating the hydraulic loading rates (40%)

• Monitors the softeners for soft water; monitors proper regeneration; ensures brine level and concentration in the brine tank. Monitors the boiler for efficient operations in sulfate levels, softness, and TDS, and maintains a shift record sheet of the boiler and softeners. Assists with annual boiler inspections and repairs. (10%)

• Continuously monitors the production schedule to predict grease and water volumes and plans for the required number of tank trailers and scheduled pick-ups in a timely manner. This involves communication directly with renderer and tanker transport company and requires excellent planning skills to anticipate and schedule tanker coverage for weekends. (10%)

• Monitors the bulk chemical inventory and oversees the unloading of treatment chemicals from bulk delivery trucks. Maintains hazmat certification by completing refresher training as required. (10%)

• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance work orders and enters relevant process and grease production data into the computer system. (10%)

• Some parts of the Pre-Treatment facility is very cramped and requires the ability to move around in tight quarters. Periodically, wet and greasy floors make the facility slippery. Requires knowledge of Confined Space procedures.

Qualifications:

• Must possess physical dexterity, good communication skills, and the ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Must be able to follow instructions and demonstrate dependable attendance.
• Must be mechanically and electrically oriented with some understanding of chemistry fundamentals and the ability to learn water treatment procedures.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Able to evaluate process inputs and take proper decisive action.
• 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. and have the physical ability to do the following tasks for extended periods of times: standing, walking, sitting, bending, climbing up steps and using ladders.
• Willing to accept a high level of accountability and responsibility for meeting government enforceable water cleanliness standards.
