ABOUT THE JOB
Hawkins is looking for a Production Operator to perform chemical handling, mixing/blending, container filling, operation of process equipment, material handling, instrument monitoring, record keeping, and forklift operation.
Hourly Pay: $31+/hour
Responsibilities
- Accurately and completely fill out required records in the computer in a timely manner.
- Maintain/monitor plant and work area housekeeping standards.
- Drive Shuttlewagon/Trackmobile and assist in rail yard.
- Participate in cycle counts, inventory discrepancies and physical inventory.
- Inspect chlorine valves as required.
- Complete HAZWOPER training course and participate in mandatory spill drills.
- Prepare hazardous materials for DOT shipment to ensure safe and timely supply of raw materials and finished products.
- Perform functions in the chlorine room, including bleeding, filling, plugging, and tagging chlorine cylinders. May be asked to perform similar functions with bleach and sulfuric acid.
ABOUT YOU
- Willingess to work in different workstations as required and be flexible with schedule changes including working weekends and extended hours as necessary.
- Previous experience and demonstrated proficiency safely operating an industrial forklift preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic math and computer skills and knowledge of MS Office required; prior ERP experience preferred
- Effective ability to communicate and read safety and procedure documents
- Minimum of 6 months experience as a chemical operator or equivalent experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb and/or work at heights while using stairs and ladders
- Ability to wear PPE and equipment such as safety shoes, face shields, safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, gloves and hard hat, chemical suit and/or hair/beard net when required
- Ability to safety operate an industrial forklift when required
- Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements (for respirator use, SQF-certified environments, etc.)
- Willing to work around chemicals and industrial machinery
- Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, and wet environmental working conditions
- Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, reaching and pulling
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
