Vpm/Ssw Manufacturing Engineer

This position supports VPM and SSW (VIRGINIA Payload Module and Subsea & Seabed Warfare) programs. Waterfront Manufacturing Engineers provide engineering, design and deckplate support for VIRGINIA Class Submarine construction. Manufacturing Engineers work in a design/build/sustain environment, helping develop build strategies, procedures and fixtures required for lifting & handling, manufacturing and assembling submarine components, structures, ship’s systems and associated modules.

Manufacturing Engineering provides the opportunity for direct involvement in large-scale lifting & handling and moving/installation operations, and requires/fosters practical and critical thinking ability. This role also involves frequent interface with related engineers/designers, Groton and Quonset Point shipbuilding trades, manufacturing vendors, and planning representatives from Groton, Quonset Point and Newport News.

Travel between Groton and Quonset Point may be required.
