Job Description

Job Title: VP Marketing

Reports To: President & General Manager

Shift: Predominantly Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:30PM

Available to work evenings, weekends, holidays & special events as needed

Full-Time, Year-Round Salaried Position

SUMMARY

The Vice President of Marketing leads the efforts to position Sundance as a leading North American, experience driven destination that ignites the senses, nurtures the soul, inspires stewardship and fosters creativity by developing, implementing, monitoring, and refining effective marketing & public relations strategies in accordance with Sundance Mission and brand identity. This role balances strategy, leadership and hands-on execution of marketing & PR initiatives.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

In Winter publish the morning ski report on snow.

Exhibits a genuine love for the arts, environmental conservation, mountain recreation, hospitality, and the Sundance brand ensuring passion is articulated through all Marketing and PR efforts.

Designs and implements a cohesive marketing plan to achieve strategic priorities and metrics.

Plans and executes effective marketing to achieve resort’s revenue goals specific to lodging, mountain revenue, season pass campaign, Programming, Food and Beverage and all other resort departments.

Oversees and manages all marketing initiatives including but not limited to resort signage, collateral, website development, maintenance and changes, and email marketing including monthly newsletters, event and lodging promotions and guest communication.

Manages all digital marketing efforts both internally and with 3rd party agencies including design, creative and ad execution.

Manages and oversees all social media marketing on Sundance social channels including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Regularly participates in developing relationships with key industry partners including Ski Utah, Utah Office of Tourism, Explore Utah Valley and other industry partners.

Provides monthly written updates of marketing efforts.

Identifies & promotes opportunities for weekday business, shoulder seasons, long weekends, and holidays as they relate to the various source markets.

Regularly submits innovative ideas to the GM regarding new experiences and offerings.

Works directly with the resort’s Senior Leadership Team to ensure the resort brand is consistently conveyed in all resort related communications and throughout the resort.

Responsible for brand management in regards to marketing strategies, development and continuity as well as Sundance Resort product development.

Oversees all content creation including photography and video content.

Successfully manages competing deadlines in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with a positive attitude.

Proactively leads the Marketing Team to meet the short and long term organizational goals which will positively impact all operating departments at the Resort.

Works collaboratively w/ the VP of Sales to ensure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns related to Leisure and Group (Wedding, Corporate etc) events and business.

Assists General Manager in securing sponsorships for resort automotive and summer programming partners.

Leads the effort to execute and manage sponsorship value.

Provides direction and oversight of our marketing and web development relationships with third party organizations such as graphic designers and marketing agencies.

Ensures quality and timely media relations and public relations outreach efforts on a local, national and international scale including:

Managing schedules and coordinating media interviews as needed

Preparing Sundance Mountain Resort for media relations appearances, articles, and activities

Assistance in preparation of collateral items for PR outreach

Develops and coordinates placement of advertising materials.

Oversees and executes logo product development resort wide collaboratively with the Director of Retail.

Meets regularly with all Resort Department to plan and coordinate marketing needs and efforts including F&B, Activities, HR, Special Events etc.

Assesses B2B and B2C marketing opportunities and trends that complement Sundance’s potential target audience & gather market intelligence on clients and competitor information.

Develops annual marketing and PR plan to be included in overall resort annual business plan.

Work with the leadership team to recommend and implement creative and effective Revenue Management programs and targets for the property.

Plans and executes annual budget for marketing.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly manages two subordinate leaders and oversees third party relationships. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of marketing.



ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

Support and participate in environmental programs associated with position: minimizing waste, recycling, energy conservation, purchase and use of sustainable products, education on environmental ethic, support vendors with similar ethic, decrease pollution levels, minimize the use of toxic chemicals, restore wild life habitats.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

5-7 years progressive leadership experience in marketing for luxury hospitality and/or the ski industry and bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.


REQUIRED SKILLS

Must possess exceptional communication, technical and presentation skills. Committed to constantly updating job knowledge through research of professional publications, participation in continuing education and collaborating with industry innovators. A self-starter that enjoys working in a team environment. Skilled in marking, PR, social media strategy, and brand and product management. Able to balance and prioritize internal and external communication needs. Demonstrated guest-focused outreach. Proactive and flexible attitude in swiftly changing environment.
