Position Summary

The Vice President of Engineering reports to the CEO and will be responsible for all engineering activities in the company for current and future products. They include hardware design and development, embedded systems and software, UI/UX, and IoT/Cloud, Technical customer support, Production Engineering, and Quality Control. This role will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee activities of these engineering teams at Intellihot, to meet current and future needs of the company. This role also requires working across various departments including Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance.

Role & Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management staff in the department.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conducts periodic BOM cost analysis for current and future projects;
  • Negotiates cost-effective contracts for the organization; coordinates and implements contractors work, and resolves any disputes over labor, scheduling, or payments.
  • Formulate, organize and monitor inter-connected projects, carry out periodic gateway reviews and scrum sprints activities utilizing 6Sigma DMAIC and DMEDI methodologies.
  • Serve as the “product manager” by working across the aisle with sales, marketing, operations and finance to bring new products, service, improvements and programs from initiation to deployment.
  • Oversee and work closely with the Technical support team (Pre-sales and post sales) to coordinate and provide relevant support as well as help to solve customer problems.
  • Develop project plans, control deadlines, budgets and activities for various programs and initiative
  • Ensures that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and processes to improve organizational efficiencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Establishes and administers the department’s budget.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development related to the organizations industry.
  • Embrace and drive iQMS – Intellihot Quality Management System which installs quality at every level in every department of the company.
  • Establishes and implements the operational engineering and development initiatives in alignment with the CEO vision for the company.
  • Manage externals resources that include electronic board development, app development, AI projects, test software, combustion research and other special engineering projects.
  • Identify resource gaps and identify external resources for engineering projects
  • Set goals, solve problems and remove obstacles via innovative thinking to drive projects towards completion.
  • Work closely with the Operations team (Assembly) to coordinate and provide relevant support as well as help and solve problems.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Experience Required: 10-15 years of Product development in Industrial technology is required; including 5-8 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required; Masters's degree in Engineering or MBA preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Broad knowledge of mechatronics systems.
  • Excellent project/task, time, and resource management skills.
  • Technocrat with the ability to champion new blue ocean products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Travel Requirements: 20-30% travel required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • High entrepreneurial aptitude
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
