Are you interested in helping a young non-profit making a significant difference in diversity in tech and in the lives of underserved college students? Your work will help underserved students access opportunities in the tech industry that can change their lives and communities. You'll also gain valuable experience in non-profit communications and contribute to a mission that can make a real difference.

About Project Alpaca:

Project Alpaca is a career prep non-profit offering multi-layered support to under-resourced NYC college students entering the tech industry. Our free 9-month program consists of an intimate cohort of 12–15 students with a tailored curriculum in a hybrid in-person and online environment. Programming includes: hands-on real-world projects, portfolio making, speaker workshops, 1:1 mentorship, networking events, industry events, job interview coaching, company visits, and internship/job matching opportunities.

We're currently looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated Volunteer Graphic Designer to help us design our brand collateral, including social media, email marketing, print design, and booth design.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the volunteer design team to create compelling visuals for both print and digital platforms including social media, email newsletters, and promotional materials.
  • Maintain brand consistency throughout all design projects.
  • Translate project requirements into high-impact designs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Graphic Designer or similar role.
  • Strong interest in and commitment to equal opportunities for underserved college students and their advancement in tech
  • Awareness of accessibility and usability principles.
  • Proficiency in Figma & Adobe Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a creative approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines effectively and with professionalism.
  • Have lived in New York City as it’s our primary service region.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong portfolio of design projects, demonstrating a strong understanding and application of design principles.
  • Plan to commit 5 hours or more a week on a flexible schedule that works for you.
