Amazon is seeking an experienced Video Story Producer / Writer to join the growing Strategic Storytelling Unit within the Sellers External Relations team. As a Video Story Producer / Writer, you possess highly honed non-fiction storytelling skills gained from a professional background in broadcast journalism or documentary filmmaking as well as non-editorial brand Storytelling in a Marketing and Advertising environment.


This role is best suited for a well-seasoned video storyteller who understands film language and can develop compelling visual stories, either with new footage or existing video material and transform them into omnichannel content. You are adept at navigating all pre, post and production workflows and flexing your technical knowledge of all video & audio production. You understand how video content is used in multiple video channels – including digital advertising, paid & organic social media, website development, events, and more.


You are a creative leader who can work both independently and collaboratively with diverse teams. You can seamlessly lead and direct cameras and crew in the field while bringing out the best sound bites during interviews with real people. You can pivot and evolve story needs in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment and then quickly write concise scripts with clear story arcs and manage the completion of videos with a highly skilled group on post-production collaborators ensuring successful delivery of multiple projects against budget expectations and deadlines.


Key job responsibilities


Develop, write, direct, and produce short and long-form videos to be used across live events, social, internal and external marketing efforts using a data-driven, test-and-learn approach in collaboration with team and business stakeholders.


Leading and collaborating video projects from pre-production thru to delivery of multiple video assets on time and on-budget.


Conduct documentary-style, on-camera interviews, work with videographers to gather video assets, identifying story opportunities, interviewees, locations, B-roll, etc


Oversee the editing process: Writing paper edits, collaborating with editors, motion graphics artists, audio mixers, colorists, including providing feedback on edits with business stakeholders and legal.


Analyze performance data and use data to create incremental video optimizations of that scale.


Manage PO’s, budgets, contracts , legal feedback and stakeholder feedback.


Available to travel 50%, sometimes on short notice.

The Seller External Relations (SER) team ensures that Amazon is viewed globally by external audiences as a valuable, accessible, partner who respects and celebrates the success of its sellers. We create content and tools that demonstrate and celebrate the positive experiences of sellers on Amazon to other sellers, the general public, and influentials (e.g., media and policymakers) with the goal of improving their perception of the experience and benefits of selling in our store.

Basic Qualifications


  • Online portfolio showcasing scope of qualifying work
  • Passionate storyteller with ability to craft compelling stories by constructing narratives with disparate content
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite as relates to translating static to motion graphics, video networking and post-production workflows
  • Understanding of Adobe Creative Suite; specifically After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere as well as camera equipment, and video production equipment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or equivalent technical degree in Film Production
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as relates to communications and collaboration
  • 5+ years’ experience on a creative team in an ad agency or corporate marketing department
  • 7+ years’ experience producing video content


Preferred Qualifications


  • Proven track record partnering with designers, producers, agencies, and content-creators
  • Experience managing complex Marketing workflows for content creation
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work across numerous projects with competing deadlines and effectively prioritize deliverables
  • An available reel in addition to portfolio

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
