Position: Vice President of Supply Chain & Procurement Industry: Chemicals - Resins, Packaging, and Automotive. This role will be an on site role located in Columbus or Akron, Ohio.
Role Overview: Currently seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Supply Chain & Procurement to lead and optimize the supply chain operations within the chemicals industry, with a specific focus on resins procurement and other chemicals used in the packaging and automotive sectors. As a key executive in our organization, you will be responsible for managing a significant annual spend of $350 million to ensure efficient sourcing, purchasing, and delivery of high-quality materials to meet the demands of our clients and contribute to the company's overall growth and
success.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Strategy and Planning:
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and market dynamics to proactively adapt the supply chain strategy for sustainable growth.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain and procurement strategy that aligns with the company's overall business goals and objectives.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, process improvement, and risk mitigation within the supply chain function.
Resins and Chemicals Procurement:
- Evaluate and select reliable suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish long-term partnerships to secure the highest quality materials at competitive prices.
- Ensure adherence to strict quality, sustainability, and ethical standards throughout the supply chain.
- Lead the sourcing and procurement efforts for resins, packaging materials, and other chemicals required for the packaging, plastics, and automotive industries.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with key suppliers and vendors to foster open communication, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and develop improvement plans to enhance efficiency and delivery performance.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure strict compliance with industry regulations, trade laws, and corporate policies.
- Manage the annual procurement budget of $550 million, ensuring effective cost control and resource allocation to optimize profitability while maintaining quality standards.
- Identify potential supply chain risks and develop comprehensive contingency plans to mitigate disruptions in supply or demand.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience managing a substantial annual spend, ideally around $550 million, and achieving cost savings without compromising quality.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier relationship management and contract negotiations.
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain best practices, procurement strategies, and industry trends.
- Proven track record of at least 10 years in supply chain management and procurement roles within the chemicals industry, with a focus on resins and related materials.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive organizational change.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. MBA is required for this role. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) preferred.
