We’re looking for a full-time, staff Vice President of Human Resources to join our SOC team located in Chantilly, VA.
Position Summary
VP of HR role is responsible for strategic HR leadership for our Government Services group in Chantilly, VA. This role will lead the HR function for this business group and serve as a trusted advisor to the Government Services business leaders. Reporting through the CHRO and part of the HR leadership team, this role will contribute to the overall HR leadership of Day & Zimmermann. Functioning primarily as a business partner while also responsible for all aspects of HR (talent, leadership/succession, development, talent acquisition, compensation, and benefits administration) within the business group and supported by Corporate HR COEs. Experience with union negotiations, government contracting, international work/expats, contract onboarding/offboarding, M&A and SCA are required; experience with restructuring and leading a growing a business are preferred
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to sites for labor relations to ensure productive relationship with unions. Ensure labor contracts are managed in a cost effective and transparent way. Assist in managing all aspects of the union labor relationship including negotiation of new agreements and strike/dispute prevention strategies. Lead company initiative on SCA; ensure compliance within Business Group Mentors, support and facilitate solutions for direct HR reports.
  • Manage the compensation and benefits execution and set up for the business group including pay transparency, equitable pay, compensation analysis, position management, different benefit packages for different employee groups including expats/TCN and union employees.
  • Responsible for leading and implementing various COE processes, including performance management, compensation planning, leadership programs, training/learning, diversity and inclusion, Build a Better You (total rewards), talent acquisition/onboarding, and any new processes and programs; as a member of the HR Leadership Team, add value to the COE processes by making suggestions for improvements and collaborating with COE leaders; ensure communications and overall systems and linkages are in place to attract, motivate, develop and retain great talent.
  • Serve as a change agent. Anticipate changes in business conditions that challenge the norm and as needed, lead through transformation. Serve as a key member of the Business Group leadership; offer guidance and support to the leadership team and other leaders.
  • Create and implement new organizational structures as needed for a changing business; successful manage the employee life cycle for a changing workforce along with a changing organization.
  • Implement talent processes to identify and develop key talent, ensuring a talent pipeline is in place; develop leadership skills of managers. Manage/coordinate talent assessment, development, workforce, and succession planning. Ensure development of all high potential employees. Manage the Talent Review process to assess and review talent
  • Build a work culture that promotes high performance, open communications, inclusiveness, and engagement and demonstrates the core values of the company. Ensure remote workers and work locations are connected and aligned with company and business unit cultural expectations. Maximize use of company initiatives on communications and champion Day & Zimmermann core values and business objectives.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Requires complex analytical, technical and/or management capabilities.
  • Strong business acumen with an ability to learn, understand and converse around significant business issues including financial drivers.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of HR Management; experience managing all HR activities within a business group with the support of HR COE; Knowledge of overall HR products and services to deliver solutions to the business. Strong hands-on knowledge of labor relations required. International HR experience and management of remote employee populations required.
  • Advanced coaching/consulting, conflict resolution and facilitation skills. Must expertly build relationships and collaborate with BU LT and HRLT. Strong Change leadership and stewardship. Strong customer mindset. Excellent ability to communicate across broad constituencies with demonstrated ability to influence throughout the organization.
  • Ability to simultaneously be strategic and tactical. Must be able to think strategically and connect HR plans with business results.
Minimum Education And Requirements
  • PHR, SPHR or similar
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Organization Development, Finance, or Business Administration or equivalent. MS in HR or MBA desirable
  • 10+ years
