Position Description/Overview

The Vice President, Payer Consulting contributes to the growth of the consulting organization acting as an Inspirational leader who can articulate a vision or mission that resonates emotionally across the organization. Is an interpersonal skill master, builds authentic trusting relationships and triggers the best instincts in others. This individual deliberately forms and leverages collaborative relationships to produce greater value internally and externally that contributes to advancements in PG product. They will draw upon industry knowledge coupled with PG product and service understanding to solve complex problems, and to drive the growth of the business through existing and new relationships.

The Vice President works within and across strategic consulting to support consulting engagements by gathering and analyzing client and Press Ganey information, developing recommendations, creating presentations/reports, presenting findings and recommendations to client, and facilitating their integration into client strategy and workplans.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees complex projects ensuring on time and on budget performance that achieves the client's (internal and external) Success Profile. Deploys staffing resources to align with work considering workload and project projections.
  • Leads and manages efforts across multiple engagements (internally and externally) to advance client objectives to achieve both short and long-term goals.
  • Engagement Management and Delivery

    • Leads and manages efforts across multiple engagements (internally and externally) to advance client objectives to achieve both short and long-term goals.
    • Oversees complex projects ensuring on time and on budget performance that achieves the client's (internal and external) Success Profile. Deploys staffing resources to align with work considering workload and project projections.
  • Directing and Leading Teams
  • Seeks interdisciplinary cross utilization to maximize resource pool and advocates for specialty skill sets based on projected demands.
  • Play a key role in the retention, professional development and performance management of staff including mentoring, coaching and recruiting
  • Orchestrate multiple complex engagement work streams through others by directing and leading, not necessarily doing.
  • Successfully lead and manage a diverse team of professionals on large complex engagements by fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Works with internal thought leaders and subject matter experts on new product development and assuring that teams stay ahead of industry trends and best practices.
  • Client Relationship Management

    • Works with clients (internally and externally) to define what success looks like and ensures delivery to those standards; serves as a leader in driving quality and innovation of methodologies
    • Builds long lasting authentic relationships with C-level and Board contacts at clients beyond the core focus of the engagement to be a trusted advisor and resource and expands that awareness beyond specific facilities to the regional, system level.

  • Demonstrate a high degree of self-awareness and ability to accurately gauge others to appropriately guide thinking and behavior, especially in difficult situations.
  • Builds long lasting authentic relationships with C-level and Board contacts at clients beyond the core focus of the engagement to be a trusted advisor and resource and expands that awareness beyond specific facilities to the regional, system level.
  • Fosters an environment of innovation and change creating a culture in which the Strategic Consulting team is prepared for and embraces change; Identifies the need for, promotes and builds commitment for change at an enterprise level; Champions and leads the change while influencing others to embrace and adopt change efforts.
  • Works with clients (internally and externally) to define what success looks like and ensures delivery to those standards; serves as a leader in driving quality and innovation of methodologies
  • Utilizes structures, approaches and executive presence to ensure intended audiences receive intended messages that informs and influences others.
  • Communicate effectively (written and verbal) to Board and C-suite audiences; must be able to persuade and influence the actions of others; Interactions will range from routine to complex and include formal and informal presentations, one-on-one and group discussions.
  • Communication

    • Utilizes structures, approaches and executive presence to ensure intended audiences receive intended messages that informs and influences others.
    • Communicate effectively (written and verbal) to Board and C-suite audiences; must be able to persuade and influence the actions of others; Interactions will range from routine to complex and include formal and informal presentations, one-on-one and group discussions.
  • Build a strong network of client and industry relationships which strengthen the Press Ganey brand in the market and provide avenues that generate new business.

    • Internal and external trusted advisor serving in Press Ganey Executive Sponsor roles to best position PG for retention and new sales driving more than $1.5M per year in sales
    • Build a strong network of client and industry relationships which strengthen the Press Ganey brand in the market and provide avenues that generate new business.
    • Participate as a leader in practice management and innovation which includes creating and enhancing current tools, methodologies, recruiting practices, and personnel development processes.
  • Internal and external trusted advisor serving in Press Ganey Executive Sponsor roles to best position PG for retention and new sales driving more than $1.5M per year in sales

Qualifications/Education:

Must have prior experience in a Senior Manager or above position in a consulting organization leading complex, transformational engagements and prior experience in a leadership role (Vice President or higher) at a healthcare provider or payor organization.

  • Experience working with and implementing operating systems in healthcare organizations;
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college required.
  • Specific experience/background in the following:
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Senior Manager or higher role in a consulting organization; and
    • VP level in a healthcare provider or payor organization; and
    • Experience working with and implementing operating systems in healthcare organizations;
    • Background in training curriculum development and delivery; and
    • Experience using change management models to drive sustainable change within healthcare organizations
    • Demonstrated success in performance improvement efforts, from training through implementation
    • Requires strong data analytic skills (Excel, Access, SQL, SAS, etc.)
    • Advanced skills in MS Office Products (Word, PPT, Excel) to support document preparation
    • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to quickly adapt to multiple priorities
    • Bachelor's degree from accredited college required.
    • Masters degree preferred.
  • Background in training curriculum development and delivery; and
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Products (Word, PPT, Excel) to support document preparation

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $200,000 to $225,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus or commission tied to achieved results.
