User Interface Designer - Design System Internship

Join us for a 12-week paid Summer 2023 Internship designed to let you apply your classroom learnings to real world challenges. Our internships have a thoughtful balance of networking, executive speakers, community involvement, big meaty projects (no paper filing here!) and fun!

What you’ll do on the Design System team:

• Contribute to the Design System Libraries
• Create hi-fidelity mockups and prototypes
• Take ownership of your projects and guide them from beginning to end
• Meet and implement feedback from the design system users, other designers, and developers across the organization
• Build user interface components with states and interactions
• Collaborate with product designers, visual designers, technical writers, and software engineers to improve the design system website
• Follow the existing work processes while contributing to improvements
• Assist in documenting issues and design decisions
• Work closely with software engineers to make sure the implementation meets the design definitions

We are looking for the following skills:

• Interest in design systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Disciplined time management
• Self-motivated with a strong propensity for action, results, and continuous improvement
• A strong understanding of visual and user interface design
• Spirit of collaboration
• Thoughtful, constructive critiquing
• Experience with software design tools: Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch
• Basic front-end knowledge is a bonus
• Great organization and attention to detail
• Enthusiasm to learn new skills and disciplines

Education and Experience Required:

• Computer Science, Design, or Fine Arts preferred
• High School Degree 3rd Year of University completed - typically a technical degree specialization.
