Job Position : UI Designer and Consultant

Location : Colorado Springs, Santa Rosa, or Santa Clara

Duration : 6+ Months (Possibilities of Extensions)

Job Summary:

Looking for a challenging assignment in software usability? You'll contribute to the user-centered design of a new software tool, working with stakeholders, cross-functional team members and IT developers throughout the process.

You will play a key role in delivering an effective user experience by contributing your usability expertise to the user centered design process for a new software tool. This is an internal, process-oriented tool with numerous logics flows to be designed for usability-- to be streamlined and for clarity, to prevent errors. The project involves designing for personas with different job functions, goals, and needs in using the software.

  • Concept Review 1 with target users.
  • Create UX approach document (high level app capabilities, UX challenges, guiding principles for the UI design concept).
  • Identify common User task flows and required elements.
  • Review/ redlining/ modify wireframes.
  • Persona Creation and understanding user requirements.
  • Concept Review 2- for Design validation.
  • Initial Mockups and example Wireframes.
  • In process usability testing (Round 1)
  • UX concept creation and supporting wireframes.
  • Usability validation test, with recommendations (Round 2)
  • Create clickable prototype for most important flows.
  • Incorporate Mockup feedback.
  • Incorporate changes to design.
  • Handoff to IT development team - design notes or supporting documentation.
  • Wireframe pages for the important flows.
  • Onboarding and familiarization with project.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct usability tests and provide reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Persona development, mental model and task flow analysis as needed to inform new UI design requirements.
  • Create new UI designs from early concepts through wireframes and interactive UI prototypes.
  • Design for target personas, and to implement usability recommendations.
  • Designs must fulfill usability and other requirements, as well as design constraints.
  • Plan and conduct concept reviews, task walkthroughs and other evaluations for iterative design process.

Requirements/Experience:

  • Experience in conducting all aspects of user-centered design.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent training and experience in Usability Engineering, Human Computer Interaction or Cognitive Psychology.
  • UX Design experience with high-tech domains is desirable.
  • Knowledge of user behavior to anticipate the impact of designs based on cognitive psychology.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment of agile software development.
  • Persona development, mental model and task flow analysis as needed to inform new UI design requirements.
  • Create new UI designs from early concepts through wireframes and interactive UI prototypes.
  • Ability to plan and conduct usability evaluations and tests, and to provide reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of human factors and design for color vision impairments.
  • Proficient with UI design wireframe and prototyping tools – such as Sketch, Zeplin, Axure, Figma or others
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members. Must be a team player.
