Job Details
New ideas are all around us, but only a few will change the world. That’s our focus at JPL. We ask the biggest questions, then search the universe for answers—literally. We build upon ideas that have guided generations, then share our discoveries to inspire generations to come. Your mission—your opportunity—is to seek out the answers that bring us one step closer. If you’re driven to discover, create, and inspire something that lasts a lifetime and beyond, you’re ready for JPL.
Located in Pasadena, California, JPL has a campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.
Job Family: Engineering
Discipline: Systems
Career Level: 4
Title: IND Mission Interface Engineering Manager
Will:
Will be a member of the Mission Systems Engineering Section (394) and will report administratively to the Mission Interface Coordination Group Supervisor (394F) and programmatically to the Mission Support Definition and Commitments Office. Will be responsible for managing negotiations, commitments, and assurance of services to space missions by the Deep Space Network (DSN) and the Multi-mission Ground Systems and Services (MGSS) which manages AMMOS (Advanced Multi-Mission Operations System). https://AMMOS.NASA.gov
Will work to define, coordinate, balance and integrate highly sophisticated technical and programmatic issues in an end-to-end manner to ensure that the total support system satisfies flight project requirements. In partnership with the mission and the DSN and MGSS Project Offices, the MIEM is expected to lead the definition and documentation of the mission service commitments in the Service Level Agreement (SLA), DSN Service Agreement (DSA), and the mission service interfaces in the Operations Interface Control Document (OICD). The MIEM will function as the MGSS and DSN representative as the primary point of contact for all phases of a mission. Other responsibilities include leading multi-disciplinary teams and facilitating mission DSN and GDS engineering, testing, implementation through close collaborations with the mission manager and mission GDSE to ensure mission interfaces are delivered and validated. The MIEM will also plan, negotiate, monitor, and review critical event support commitments, and conduct Mission Event Readiness Reviews.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline with typically a minimum of 9 years of related experience; Master’s degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 7 years of related experience; or PhD in similar disciplines with a minimum of 5 years related experience.
