Job Description
POSITION
Upper School Nurse
REPORTS TO
The School Nurse will report to the Upper School Principal.
Primary Responsibility
Provides preventive health services to facilitate the students’ optimal physical, mental,
emotional and social growth and development. Identifies problems and disabilities and
provides such services as case finding, health education, referring and care in order to help
prevent serious health problems which would later be more difficult and costly to address.
Supports the education process by working to assure the health of the students.
Qualifications
Educational and Experience Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
  • Certified in CPR or BLS (or obtain in the first 6 months)
  • Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Traders Point Christian
  • Qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana
Schools
  • Abide by decisions of the Board of Directors and administration of Traders Point
Christian Schools
  • Agree to and sign the Traders Point Christian Schools Statement of Faith
  • Maintain ministry partnership
Agency Recommendations
  • B.S.N. or Registered Nurse license with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in public health nursing, community health nursing,
school health nursing or pediatric nursing, or minimum of five (5) years of experience in
another field of nursing
Demonstrated Knowledge
  • Principles and practices underlying the special field of school health
  • Principles and practices underlying professional nursing
  • Current trends in nursing and of literature in the fields of school health
  • State and local laws relating to health and social issues
  • Organization and administration of other cooperating agencies

Qualifying Characteristics
The teacher has a clearly biblical testimony of salvation with an authentic and a mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ in both their professional and personal life with a calling and commitment to Christian education. The ideal teacher must have the desire to work closely and nurture a positive relationship with students, teachers, parents, staff, school administrators and community members. The teacher must demonstrate respect for all students and community members. The ability to exercise good judgment, set a good example and comply with school standards is a must as well as the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues in a tactful and professional manner. As an employee at TPCS, you are expected to instruct and model important religious functions that include Bible instruction, prayer, participation in weekly chapels, and other religious duties. At TPCS, your role involves a pastoral element whereby through example and direct instruction, you are acting as a minister of our Christian faith. You must be able to address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES

district
  • Where applicable, participates in the IEP plan development
