Job Description

Old Republic Risk Management (ORRM) is currently seeking an Underwriting Assistant (Policy Production Associate) to join its Policy Production Team at its company headquarters in Brookfield, WI. ORRM provides primary casualty insurance products to corporate and group insureds with complex risks. A pioneer in the alternative risk market since 1985, ORRM delivers innovative solutions and services that offer unparalleled flexibility to insurance program design and structure.

In general, the Underwriting Assistant (Policy Production Associate) position evaluates underwriting information received, issues policies and endorsements, and ensures regulatory compliance. In this attractive position you will see first-hand how your eye for detail makes a difference in the accounts that are managed for the company.
Essential duties for this role are as follows:

  • Calculate and process audit endorsements to meet Company service standards.
  • Issue policies and endorsements to insured's specifications within Company deadlines. Review and verify accurate forms selection and completion at a state level to ensure compliance with state statutes.
  • Monitor internal and external requests for information to ensure accurate and timely response in meeting bureau deadlines, filing deadlines, and Company production standards.
  • Provide the Statistical department with tax location information for all lines of business within Company specific Sarbanes Oxley timelines.
  • Collect and validate information for completion of proof of insurance, financial responsibility, and motor carrier filings required by various state regulatory agencies to avoid suspension of plates, driver’s license, and motor carrier privileges.
  • Obtain, analyze and evaluate underwriting information contained in insured's specifications and fifty-state selection/rejection manual to determine coverages desired. Identify any discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with clients, brokers, bureaus, and regulatory agencies to resolve non-compliance issues relative to Workers' Compensation.

This position requires a High School diploma, or equivalent, and a minimum of one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Insurance experience or knowledge of casualty insurance is highly desired. The Policy Production Department offers dedicated in-house trainers and company-sponsored insurance courses to gain further knowledge in the commercial casualty insurance industry.

Working as a Underwriting Assistant (Policy Production Associate) requires one to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products, Excel in particular, is necessary. Other skills necessary include excellent oral and written communication skills, time management skills, strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment.
At Old Republic Risk Management, we look for bright, passionate individuals who share our values and quest for success and offer them the support and flexibility to grow to be their best at work, at home, and in the communities in which they live.
