Catholic Health is opening a new Ambulatory & Urgent Care location in Centereach. The multispecialty practice is located at 2112 Middle Country Road and is set to open in July 2023. This new multispecialty location will offer an array of primary and specialty care, as well as urgent care services for the Centereach community and surrounding areas.

Job Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist operates Ultrasound equipment as directed by physicians and performs exams according to established standards and procedures. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. This individual has direct patient contact with the following age groups: Infant; Pediatric; Adolescent; Adult; Geriatric.

Qualifications:

• Registered with ARDMS or eligible within 6 months of employment is required.
• Previous experience preferred; will accept new graduates.
• High school diploma or equivalent, and graduate of an accredited ultrasound school.

Responsibilities:

• Completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements.
• Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone.
• Performs routine diagnostic ultrasound exams and procedures:
  • This includes, but not limited to: abdomen, pelvis, major vessels, and small parts (including breast, thyroid, testicular).
• Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict.
• Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
• Utilizes a personal computer or terminal to access the Hospital Information System.
• Assists with training Ultrasound students.
• Works the assigned schedule including overtime and call as required.
• Assist in breast biopsy procedures.
• Moving, positioning and transferring patients without assistance or with assistance when needed for patient safety.
• Responds to overhead and direct pages.
• Doppler Studies of Carotid, Abdomen, Pelvis, Small Parts, and Peripheral vascular exams.
• Utilizes proper body mechanics.
• Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job.
• Maintains orderliness and cleanliness.
• Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and ingenuity.
• This includes, but not limited to: abdomen, pelvis, major vessels, and small parts (including breast, thyroid, testicular).
• Cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit.
• Requires minimal supervision to safely perform patient care/essential functions.
• May include OR procedures.
