Job Description

U.M. FDSP Associates, P.A. is a non-profit corporation based in the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. The purpose of UM FDSP is to engage in the practice of dentistry for patients of the School of Dentistry, to improve the quality of dental education at the school through the operation and maintenance of dental service. UM FDSP assists the school in remaining competitive with other dental schools to continue the high degree of excellence in the pursuit of academic and clinical education.

Under limited supervision, provides patient support for clinical dental treatment and financial administrative assistance. Will act as a liaison between patients, staff, students, residents, and faculty. Conducts a variety of administrative tasks related to the efficient operation of the Advanced General Dentistry program and is an adjunct to the patients, insurance, and business team.

Hours of operation are Monday thru Friday with no weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Acts as a patient advocate, acquainting patients with policies and procedures relevant to their care while providing excellent customer service to them internally and externally regarding information, treatment, and financial matters

Provides individualized coordination of care and, when necessary, reviews charts to monitor patient clinical progress as well as the financial aspect

Meets with Diamond Scholars and Residents on a regular basis to assist with patient management to enhance the UMSOD experience

Quarterly reviews of patient charts to ensure proper procedure and protocol are being followed by providers

Set up, modify, and monitor payment plans when applicable

Audit patient records to ensure balances are accurate and up-to-date

Communicates regularly with Office Manager regarding patient issues and concerns

Coordinates with Office Manager and CIS staff for insurance related documentation and radiographs

Manages all account correspondence for AGD and may contact patients directly for overdue balances/payment plans

Manages all in-process treatment to ensure timeliness of treatment progression

Assists in management of FIP grant

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); some college preferred.

Candidate must possess dental knowledge or extensive dental experience. Registered Dental Hygienist preferred. Knowledge of Excel and Word computer programs. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a professional demeanor.

All candidates must be available as dictated by the needs of the Advanced General Dentistry program.
