Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business, Public Administration, or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years’ experience in maintenance and/or operations, two (2) years of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Experience or education may be substituted up to a maximum of four (4) years.


Licenses or Certifications:
  • Valid Class C Texas Drivers License.

Notes to Applicants
The Parking Services Program Supervisor will report directly to the Parking Services Program Manager and will plan, organize, and supervise the daily activities and staff in the below-listed operational tasks:
  • Daily collection and reporting of on street revenue, to ensure that cash receipts and tickets are processed and submitted to finance for deposits.
  • Analyze garage traffic flow patterns, working with law enforcement to ensure that occupants safely enter and exit the garage.
  • Work with contracted companies to ensure maximum utilization of available personnel and optimum usage of garages, identifying staffing needs for daily operations.
  • Address customer complaints and inquiries and provide resolute, excellent customer service.
  • Recommend equipment purchase, upgrade and technological advancements within the industry.
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure that Parking Services operations do not exceed appropriated enterprise transportation budget.
  • Develops implements policies and procedures.

Driving Requirements:
This position requires a Valid Class C Texas Drivers License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of emerging parking trends, technologies, and applications.
  • Knowledge of and operating complex computer applications or technology.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  • Manages the activities of transportation enterprise operations to include various permitted or non-permitted uses of public rights of way.
  • Coordinates operations of the division with other city divisions, departments or outside entities to ensure City of Austin transportation enterprise operations are maintained.
  • Develops and evaluates short and long range strategies, goals, and action plans to meet business needs.
  • Ensures that traffic operations comply with city ordinances, state and federal laws.
  • Makes recommendations to management on budget development and expenditures, short and long term programs and enterprise initiatives.
  • Monitors and ensures section operates within appropriated enterprise transportation budget.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for enterprise transportation operations.
  • Prepares, presents and communicates information to a variety of audiences including the public, city boards, and City Council.
  • Ensures operations of division are met by managing section with changes to equipment, budget and personnel to meet department needs. Ensures the identification and delivery of all appropriate safety training.
  • Prepares and reviews reports as part of the process of monitoring and communicating section performance results.
  • Recommends major purchases and expenditures, develops specifications for product, price, and services to be received.

  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.
