Job Description
Summary About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between. Responsibilities Applies functional application of the Department of Defense Personal Property Programs and services relative to the Total Quality Assurance Programs. Provides guidance and information to property owners regarding filing claims and inconvenience claims against commercial carriers for expenses resulting directly from delayed delivery of household goods shipments. Inspects carriers/contractors during packing preparation, loading, delivery and unpacking of household goods for compliance with applicable regulations. Maintains carrier quality of service files to include customer evaluation reports, transportation inspector reports, facilities inspection reports, etc Generates a variety of correspondence, reports and charts containing narrative, tabular and statistical data into final form. To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating transportation documents with support agencies; reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy to comply with quality assurance regulations; preparing routine guidance and information to provide to customers; preparing documents in word processing software such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel and providing general guidance to customers concerning delivery of household good shipments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position the Federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Auditing Customer Service Operations Support Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
