Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking a Traffic Engineer to support our fast-growing Transportation Planning Section. They will be expected to perform transportation planning and related tasks in support of traffic simulation and capacity analyses, development or assistance in the development of traffic forecasts from regional travel demand models, evaluate multimodal transportation systems, and provide detailed and summary results in graphics, reports, and presentations.

They must also have a strong interest in the planning and design of complete streets, bicycle and pedestrian planning, and design. Excellent communication skills are highly desired for public and client presentations and document preparation.

• Perform other duties as needed
• Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro simulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments
• Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects

Required Qualifications

• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
• Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once
• Strong verbal and written skills
• A minimum of 5 years traffic analysis and traffic engineering/design
• Professional Engineering License
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

• Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, AIMSUM, VISSIM, CUBE, VISUM and MicroStation
• MS in Engineering or related field preferred
