Position Purpose & Summary


PSA BDP is looking for a driven professional that will be responsible for processing rate requests for ocean exports from North America. The candidate must demonstrate familiarity with basic shipping policies and procedures. The candidate will support the development, implementation, and execution of the regional pricing strategies while optimizing revenue contribution and market growth.


Responsibilities:


  • Support team with carrier meetings, FMC filings, and other compliance and trade matters
  • Build and maintain strong positive relationships with carriers to determine optimal pricing to better meet customer’s business requirements.
  • Communicate with customers and sales/operations staff to resolve pricing issues, make recommendations, and implement corrective action.
  • Respond to spot quotation requests and implement tariffs utilizing internal rate platform
  • Work with Product leadership team to develop pricing strategies.
  • Negotiate service contracts with different carriers to obtain competitive ocean, land, and consolidation rates.
  • Become a subject matter expert on specified tradelane (ie.carrier service portfolios, contractual terms, free time, Hazmat restrictions, equipment, etc..).

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Positive attitude with focus on customer service
  • Initiative and ability to work in team oriented environment
  • Ability to analyze data, evaluate alternatives and make recommendations considering impact of decisions.
  • Proficient in software Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interface with people of a variety of backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of the shipping industry terminology and concepts of related equipment and logistics a plus
