Department: Research

Work Location: Arizona (Phoenix area), California (Northern Central Valley - Fresno, Modesto, Merced areas), Illinois (Peoria or Springfield areas), Iowa (Des Moines area), Michigan (Detroit area), Nevada (Las Vegas area), New York (Long Island & Upstate), Oregon (Bend area), Texas (San Antonio area)

Position Summary:

The Tracker will be responsible for filming and reporting on candidate events, media appearances, and rallies. They will share details of tracking opportunities on targeted candidates, audio and/or video record events, prepare detailed memos on topics covered at events, and promptly upload audio and/or video, as well as other research tasks when needed. Trackers will serve as experts on the races they cover.

This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Researching and filming other politically relevant events
  • Collaborating with campaign teams to recruit and train volunteers to assist with tracking
  • Filming or audio recording each public event
  • Confirming event details, candidate attendance, and getting technology ready for events
  • Preparing memos and uploading footage the same day as the event
  • Reviewing video for research books and backgrounders and bulleting relevant information
  • Searching for, calendaring, and sharing details of events/tracking opportunities
Requirements:
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to build relationships with staff at all levels
  • Ability to perform duties under pressure and when handling confrontation
  • Familiarity with video editing a plus
  • Excellent time management, planning, troubleshooting and communication skills
  • A valid driver's license and reliable car to get to and from events
  • Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability.
  • Initiative to work independently and follow through on all projects
  • Passion for campaigning and politics and a drive to help elect Democratic candidates

  • Flexibility to travel at short notice and availability during evening and weekend hours
