Technology Support Specialist

8 hours per day, 10 months per year

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to learn new technology
  • Ability to troubleshoot common hardware and software problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students
  • One of the following: Official transcripts verifying an Associate's degree with an emphasis in technology support, OR two years in a vocational program with an emphasis in technology support
  • Two years of demonstrated experience providing computer hardware and software to users. Additional experience may be substituted, year for year, for education.
  • Ability to give clear guidance and direction
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software
  • Experience which demonstrates excellent customer service abilities, interpersonal skills and team player attitude
  • Recency (prior 10 years) and substance of work experience will be considered in determining applicant qualifications
  • Possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move moderately sized objects up to 50 pounds
  • Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are expected of our students
  • Coordinate the repair and movement of hardware
  • Perform routine maintenance of printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices
  • Recommend and install memory upgrades
  • Work in a flexible and cooperative manner
  • Assist teachers in overseeing and helping students working with educational and application software
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
  • This position will serve as a systems technician for one or multiple school buildings, maintaining the integrity and functionality of their computer systems
  • Perform computer hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Assist students and staff in the use of computer hardware and software
  • Maintain software and hardware inventory
  • Create and print various computerized reports
  • Provide on site and classroom training and coaching in use of computer systems.
  • Install new or newly repaired computer equipment, including software installation
  • Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times

Benefits/Compensation:

Salary range: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service in a similar occupational status from other Washington School Districts or Education School Districts, may receive experience credit towards salary placement. Salary schedules can be accessed here .
