The Technical Designer will manage the specs and construction of the product from conception to production. They will work closely with the production team to assure that quality standards, fit and specs are met during the sampling and bulk process. They will collaborate and develop close working relationships with design, production, and vendors to ensure the quality, delivery and business practices are achieved and upheld. They will communicate with local and overseas partners to ensure that the fit, quality and construction of the product meets our standards.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update body blocks, fit studies, wear testing and size charts.
- Communicate high quality standards, construction, pattern, and specs to vendors / factories in the development process through to bulk production.
- Review, comment and track progress and approvals for garments from development to production.
- Identify potential production and quality issues and make recommendations to ensure brand integrity.
- Establish quality standards and create clear guidelines and documents such as standards manuals to keep in accordance with the Global Children’s Requirements, and US Import Standards.
- Special projects as needed.
- Conduct fit sessions, maintain measurement data, manage comments and work with design to achieve product intent. Provide feedback, observations and recommendations for improvements to garment construction.
- Foster open communication and a team environment with all teams; receive constructive feedback professionally.
- Create and manage tech packs for all styles including specs, sketch edits, how to measure, construction call outs, packing instructions.
- Build and maintain assortment in PLM from the style level to BOM and consumption.
- Work closely with pattern makers to create and update patterns, review markers as needed to ensure efficient cutting.
- Manage the review including measuring and QC all samples from proto to PP and bulk.
- Communicate with overseas partners regularly and via weekly calls to ensure timeliness and understanding of garment construction during development and production phases.
- Execute design and fit intent into bulk production while maintaining high quality standards. Work closely with QC teams to ensure understanding of construction & spec standards.
- Coordinate with design, sourcing and production to endure development stays on track.
Requirements:
Extremely organized and self driven • Comfortable with Excel/Google sheets • Apparel Magic Experience a plus • Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong verbal and written communication skills • Comfortable working in an environment with changing priorities • Preferably 5+ years of relevant industry experience in product development and manufacturing. • This position is full time in office
