Job Overview
We are looking for a technical writer to join our team to support parts books and technical materials for our forklift product line. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving our customers with accurate on time information, and enhancing the forklift content development process within Komatsu business partners.
Key Job Responsibilities
Manage and define policies to support the customer experience.
Research and lead policy enhancement with Komatsu Japan and US business partners to support US sold product.
Establish policy rollout for assigned product with business partners.
Enhance workflow for content creation and delivery
Manage creation and lifecycle of Parts, Service, and Operator Manuals for Komatsu Machinery
Analyze engineering and service information for machine updates and new products.
Research Bills of Materials and engineering changes from the factory.
Review and resolve notifications from distributors and customers for repairs and corrections that apply to manuals.
Attend design and planning meetings for new products or features
Interview subject matter experts (SME) (Distributors, customers, internal personnel) for content creation
Manage illustration creation with business partners. Create illustrations as required.
Utilize 3D Cad (Creoview), 2D Part Drawings, and 2D Assembly Drawings for accurate data
Use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create and modify illustrations
Manage projects through Asana / Instagantt project management tools
Update projects and meet deadlines
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to support the products.
Participate in Continuous Improvement
Develop new solutions through technology or systems to improve speed, accuracy, and quality of content creation and delivery.
Support department goals and initiatives
Other tasks as required by management
Qualifications/Requirements
4 year college degree in Technical Communication, Engineering or related field, or 5+ year work experience equivalent
Mechanical and technical aptitude
Direct or related experience in: Adobe Creative Suite, Framemaker, OxygenXML (XML editor), CreoView (CAD viewer), ERP BOM mgt.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Product Suite. Basic script work experience a plus.
IT Savvy
Excellent English writing skills
Effective time management
